The Lee dippers work extremely well. I shaved mine down to throw 4.4gr of titgroup and after a little practice on how to consistantely dip the same amount of powder everytime, I can throw +/- 1/10gr of powder everytime. If you use the powder that the size of dipper recommends, then you do not even need a scale

Mine would lose its zero from day to day, and it takes quite a bit of time to fiddle with the zeroing screw; sometimes just moving/bumping the scale would knock off the zero. The Lee is supposedly magnetically dampened, but I would still have to sit for 30-45 seconds, waiting for each measured weight to settle.

I picked up a Dillon (it was cheaper than the RCBS) and zeroing it is a matter of twisting the foot on it; you can do it in 20 seconds or less. The Dillon is also magnetically dampened and the magnet does its job.

I gave away my Lee Safety Scale -- I didn't feel comfortable selling someone such a piece of junk. The rest of my setup is Lee and I've done well with it but I just can't recommend that scale to anyone.

To have consistent ammo you definitely need a scale. Reloading equipment is just like everything else. Buy once cry once. Get good equipment and it will last forever.

alright so i think im ready for the purchase. right now I have:

LEE anniversary kit including: press, 1 Breech Lock die bushing, a Lee Safety Scale, Perfect Powder Measure, powder funnel, lock stud and cutter, a Lee chamfer tool, primer pocket cleaner, a large and small Safety Prime and a tube of sizing lube.

Lee deluxe 3 die set including: length sizing die, collet neck sizing die and bullet seating die. (.223)

          Lee factory crimp die .223

Lee case length gauge/shell holder .223

          Frankford electronic 6" calipers

"Gun Guides Reloading Guide for Rifles ".223 Remington and .22-250 Remington" Book

Besides, bullets, powder, and primers, is there anything else i really need? I plan on sticking with the given scale and powder measure.

          thanks!

I got the Lee scale with my kit. It is kind of funky but it works when you get used to it. I got a frankford arsenal digital scale for $20 and it always matches the lee scale. Much quicker for doing spot checks.
Save yourself the pain and get some spray lube. If you order it at the same time it won't cost much for shipping and it is a whole lot easier to use than the others.
Don't forget a swaging die if you are using military brass.
Overall, I think you will be happy with the lee press. I have it and it works good. While the above stuff is just suggestions, you can get by with what is on your list, the one thing I got that I am GLAD I got was extra breech lock rings. I think they are 2 to a package and like $6. It is nice to be able to set your dies once and then you just pull the lock out and you don't have to adjust it the next time you use it.

I'm interested in this as well.

what would be needed in addition to the lee anniv kit, if that was already in hand??

              thanks in advance.

Case lube and a case trimmer are already in the kit.

You may also want to look into getting a tumbler to clean dirty brass. These run from $45 to $150 on eBay. I got an Frankford tumbler for $47 with free shipping.....And it works great so far.

I use crushed walnut for the media, which I bought at Petsco for $9 bucks and a cap full of Nufinish car polish for a nice shine.
