Try five shells with the Lee lube only, light coating, lube the inside of the neck w/ a q-tip, I've loaded over 200 rounds without a glitch two weeks ago, using Lee dies and pure Lee lube

Yes you can use .223 dies for 5.56.......They are really one in the same outside case measurements. Mil brass is slightly different internal capacity. Before anyone starts flaming me I know there are some differenced in mil loaded ammo and comercial non-mil loads. That was not the question he asked.

223/5.56 with the same dies is fine. Just seems like you didn't lube the entire case? Make sure you get top to bottom. I personally use Hornady One Shot and works fine.

+1 for one shot, it has worked great for me. I also use the RCBS lube in conjunction with Lube die #1 when mass processing 223 on my XL650. I do keep some Imperial sizing wax on hand for certain sizing operations where One Shot would be overkill, i.e. neck sizing only.

I think your problem might be that you did not take apart the dies and clean them before using them? They usually come with a cosmoline like coating of stuff on them to prevent rust. It can cause stuck cases.

Lube. Also make sure your using the right shellholder, even if the brass gets stuck you should be able to muscle it back down. If your shellholder is too big it will pop off the ram and your screwed.

How did you make the lube? I had to run mine in the blender to get it mixed well. Works well for me, lubes the cases quickly and effectively. I did find they size a lot better wet than dry with the lee case lube/alcohol combo. I also found in the beginning that I needed to use more lube than I had thought.
