    Favorite Bulk .22LR

With the price of a brick of .22LR being so cheap, is there much difference in quality? What's your favorite bulk packed .22LR and why?

Which bulk .22LR cycles your rifle or handgun reliably, have you found to be accurate, has good expansion for hunting etc?

I shot 120 rounds of Federal American Eagle through my Browning Semi-Auto .22 rifle during its first range visit without a single jam.

most of the major ones, like Federal, CCI Blazer, American Eagle are great. the one I hate is the Remington thunderbolt or whatever they are called. They sell them in Big 5 in a 525 round green box, terrible ammo, dirty, and they stick in the chamber of my 22 pistol.

the best ammo I ever used was the Remington Peters(the ones that came in cardboard 50 round mini-bricks). My rifles and pistol loved that stuff. But it got discontinued I believe.

Federal HV HP at Walmart, $9.88 for a 525rd box. Buy 'em cheap, stack 'em deep.

The only .22LR's that don't stick in the chambers of my 1958 vintage S&W Model 18 or the Federal 525 Round Value Pack that you can get at Big 5 or Wallmart. I also try to stick with copper plated stuff since it seems to keep the lead splatter down to a minimum.

            .22lr

Anything that has "High Velocity" on the box and the cheapest is good enough. Oh, and copper plated bullets leave less led residue in your barrell. Subsonic .22 lack acuracy in my rifle and revolver.

The one that has worked in ALL of my 22's is the Federal VP from wally world in the 550 round box. The 525 round box of "champions" didn't want to feed in some pistols; it felt somewhat underpowered. The WW value pack is clean, fairly accurate, and functions in most everything. Does well on small game too.

+1 on federal from wal-mart. Shoots under 1" in my hammerli with no ftf and is pretty much the best deal around.

Remington Golden Bullet plated HV HP from Wallyworld. I can't tell you how many rounds I've put through my Browning Buckmark and my two 10/22s.

I've got 3.2k of it sitting loose in a .30cal can, as well.

You get a few 'duds' every now and then, but that's .22 ammo.

ETA: I've never had a problem feeding them in any .22 auto I've owned... and the accuracy is decent. I HAVE had issues with Aguila hyper-velocity and some CCI mini-mags not feeding, occasionally.

I agree. The new crop of golden bullets are quite good in the reliability department. They are very dirty, however.

I would say Federal wally world. Now if you want Filthy CCI Blazer.

I recently came across 10k rounds of Remington .22 Thunderbolt for 40$, I hope it's good stuff. I bought a brick of winchester xpert .22 hollowpoint from wally world a few months ago, the stuff that was recalled. Winchester sent a call tag for it and then a coupon for 30$ worth of ammo that I just cashed in at wally world yesterday. So if you have any of that recalled stuff, call winchester!

I had a lot of that stuff to shoot up. I shot it in an old colt officers model match. After about 100 rounds, I couldn't keep my rounds on target at 50 yards. The barrel was leaded HEAVILY. I shot some Fed VP through it and it cleaned it out sufficiently to get me back on target. I hope you have better luck.

I have a Sig Mosquito and the only thing that'll cycle it reliably are CCI mini-mags and Fiocchi HV CRN

Overall Federal is the least expensive/best in my book. Another good one from my experience is Aguila. The Wolf Gold Target 22 is very good also, it's made in Germany not Russia.
