Finaly recovered my RCBS Reloading kit from the early 90s from storage...

It is all there, including about 100 rounds of .38 special full wad-cutters I loaded when in high school. It has been sitting there all these years waiting for my return.

So now I get to clean it all up and get some new powder (the old keg was sealed but the rats chewed through it and I don't trust the powder after more than a decade exposed to the air and moisture. Also lost a keg of shotgun powder. Was bummed.

While pawing through my "5 Gallon Bucket -o-Brass" I found that I have gobs of .41 Magnum once fired brass. I don't and never have owned a .41 Magnum. Kind of wondering what to do with all this brass now. Also have gobs of .45ACP all of which I will be using and .38 along with only a small amount of .357 mag which I will all be keeping. All once fired stuff. Got a couple of boxes of old 45 200 grain hollow-point. Its like a treasure chest when digging through your old stuff.

Some questions though.. my databook is pretty old.. should I buy a new one? The book in question is an old Speer #12 manual.
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

Generally, if the components are the same, the data will still be accurate. In fact, many newer books will list lower loads (from what i've seen) than books in the past. However, with the cals you listed, they're established enough that there's likely to be little load change, so long as components are identical.

Well, I suppose, I am more concerned about changing powders and powder tech. I have significant doubts that the powders of today are the same as they were two decades ago and that would throw my data off.

that just means that you need to buy a .41Mag revolver to shoot it in

well I am a wheel gun fan but by the looks of things I will be possibly getting a .357 first as I may have an insiders deal waiting for me. I have not seen a .41 Mag for sale in ages.

which makes the Brass valuable, I'm sure you can get at least $0.07-$0.10 a peice in the reloading classified

Indeed, then I poked GunBroker to get a feel for the cost.. holy *(^*&^ 700+ for every 41MAG revolver almost. Yowzers.

Saw some lever action rifles chambered for the 41MAG as well with more reasonable prices. I was rather shocked at the $$ being attached to USED 41MAG revolvers.

Yes, I intend to sell it all or possibly trade it for 1-fire brass of cals that I actually reload.

I still need to go through it, count it, and discard all "less than satisfactory" brass. This stuff comes from about 85-92 so at least we know its quality brass unlike today's brass that comes from walmart that turns out to be undersized ever so slightly( .38 UMC)!!

I would get a new Loaders guide. Lots of new powders out there. Plus it might have more info that you've forgotton!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I am interested in trading for some of the 41 brass. What do you need? Also where are you?

I am in Nor Cal, Butte County.

9mm Luger, 38 special, 45ACP is mostly what I used to load and I will continue. Also I will be doing 8mm Mauser soon as I get my die.

Cheep is first in line, but as I said before I need to count. As it stands over 200 just in their OE boxes and foam inserts, possibly more in the "bucket". I just got back up from the Peninsula yesterday night so have not had time to even start to sort through the piles of stuff or even really access the condition of my reloading equipment. Two decades of less than ideal storage my have caused some harm.

All the bucket brass is sorted and in bags so it should be a pretty quick task and I intend to do it tonight wife wants it off the table in the living room so its good motivation.
