Whats Your Favorite Powder

This is the advantage of Reloading. Customized rounds in pistol loads. I was restocking some powders like Bullseye and Clays. Couldnt find any Bullseye but looking thru a reloading guide I found Unique was deversified powder. Winchester also is supposed to make a good powder as well. Have not tried it. Couldnt find the 231. So bought the Unique. Loaded up 100 rounds but havent shot it yet.
I'm finding my favorite is Clays. I personally dont like Clays loading at the low end. But at the High end its excellant. Minimal recoil for those quik action shoots like timed steel plate events.
Now that brings up primers. Federal, CCI, Winchester?
And what are Factory bullets using for powders? It never indicates.

I like Alliant Reloader series 7, 10x, 15, & 19 very consistent thru temperature range also Universal Clays for pistols.

My favorite all around powder if I was to pick one is Win231. Its what I reach for often for loads like .45ACP but it aint the only one I use. For exmple if im reloading 9mm, I like Power Pistol or if im loading .45 Colt I like Trail Boss. For rifle its got to be Varget for me....

I just find more and more things that Trailboss does well. It's my new .45acp lswc powder (because I have a completely unreasonable prejudice against bullseye). No chance of missing a double charge either.

These days I shoot Bullseye, W231, VV-3N37, VV-N340.

For Magnum loads I have tried VV-N110, H110, 2400, AA#7 and AA#9 and prefer AA#9.

For non-magnum, I have also tried but don't buy anymore: Titegroup, UC, Unique and probably a few I forget now.

For non-magnum loads the best and most versatile powder I have ever shot is VV-N340, hands down.

I only use three.

9mm; .45ACP; .38SP/.38SP+P; 125gr .357 Magnum- Bullseye or Green Dot

158gr .357 Magnum Big Dogs - 2400

I fooled around with W231 for .45ACP. Still have most of the pound. Didn't much care for it.

A favorite powder? In what cartridge?

I find Clays to be dangerous at the top end. It has a very "hockey stick" pressure curve. It is OK for light .45 Auto target loads, but not the best.
I like AA2 and AA5 for almost all my handgun shooting.
231/HP38 is used in lots of different cartridges, but I don't get the accuracy from it that I get with AA2 or AA5 in my guns. In fact. some of my worst groups in .40 S&W were with 231/HP38.
AA2 for light target "Bullseye" loads in .38 Special Wadcutter and .45 Auto.
AA5 for 9mm, .38Super (light, not max), and .40S&W.
AA7 for near max .38 Super and .40S&W and most all 10mm Auto loads.
2400 for .45 Win Mag and .44 Rem Mag

Titegroup: for 9mm, .357, .40, .45acp, .44 mag (target loads)

H-110: for .44 mag, .454 casull, .30 carbine

Enforcer: for Barnes copper .454 casull

But Titegroup works for about 90% of my loading

For my 308 & 223 I use Varget
SRP Remington 7 1/2 primers

Why not?

Couldn't quite get the accuracy I get with Bullseye or Green Dot.

For my 5" 1911 and 6.5" S&W wheelgun barrels Green Dot has proven to be exceptional.
The 4.2" Ruger bottom feeder seems to like the Bullseye.
