If FS cost is $11/50 then you save only about $12 buying 100-round packs from Walmart (which is probably your cheapest bet).

Buy from Walmart (and haul it)
    a. Walmart Fed 115g 9mm FMJ = $19.97/100
    b. Need 600 rounds so need 6 boxes so 6 * $19.97 = $119.92

    Buy at FS
    a. $11/50
    b. Need 600 rounds so need 12 boxes so 12 * $11 = $132.00

    Savings = $132.00 - 119.92 = $12.18

    Hardly worth it.

If FS cost is significantly more than $11/50 then this of course changes.

Remember, they now have a second party that sells ammo out of a trailor at Front Sight, range 2, where you check-in. They are slightly cheaper than at FS Pro Shop!

        Beat me to it.

I think they are pretty close to Walmart price. Also, they only check a box or 2 at the inspection. You can work in your reloads after the first day if you want. Just don't get caught or you get put in Piazza jail. It's under the pro shop and there is no A/C.

They have plenty of ammo there for about $0.21 per round, just remember that the ammo store closes mid-day, so buy what you need in the morning. The Pahrump Walmart may or may not have the ammo you need.

Pahrump Walmart had 100rnd Value Packs of Federal for $19.95 about two weeks ago. They also had the 250rnd Remi Value Packs for $57.95. Just in case you don't find it elsewhere.

                NEW AMMO SUPPLIER IN PAHRUMP!!

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that we just launched a NEW AMMO BIZ in Pahrump, just for guys like you who need a source for good ammo while coming out for a class. We started the biz because as students, we were tired of trying to scrounge around town for ammo before class, and were tired of the huge fees to ship and pay someone to receive packages. That's why we opened up!! Students helping students.

We sell ammo a few ways:

                1. First, you can order online on our new site www.ammosupplywarehouse.com and we can either ship it to you home OR

                2. you can pay for your ammo online, and have us warehouse your ammo until you come out for a class. You pay, we shelf your order that day, and there it waits for you!!! No Hassle. You can either pick it up at our place, or perhaps we can set up a delivery to the hotels if we are dropping off several orders. This way saves you money....NO TAX!!!

                3. you can buy your ammo from our MOBILE AMMO TRUCK in the morning before class. We have a fully stocked ammo truck that we set up at the corner of Tecopa Road and RT 160, which is the intersection where everyone funnels into Front Sight. We stock the truck with rifle, handgun and shotgun and are out there every morning (except tues & thurs) from about 6:15 to 8:00 am. We take cash, and plastic right there at the truck!

So again, without sounding like a sales pitch, we really try to help students out, because that is what we are....students. If we can help you out in any way, please let us know.
                Thanks,

                ASW

That's what I'm gonna do too, when I go. I can't imagine leaving behind hundreds and hundreds of pieces of brass from one of their 4-day classes. That's just crazy!

I bought it at FS because its convenient and if you're flying and it pushes your bag over the weight limit your cost will sky rocket. It wasn't that much. Try the local Walmart or somewhere else in town to save a couple bucks...

I just finished a course and used the ammo supply guy in the truck, worked well and was cheaper than at FS.

I just bought at Frontsight. Maybe you can save $20 bucks buying somewhere else, but to be honest the convenience was worth the money. The S&B ammo shot really well, seemed a little more friendly than what Walmart had.

Looks like I should have kept all of my empty boxes of factory ammo that I used before I was reloading. Now I will be picking up some empty boxes at the range and than sorting brass by headstamp and repackaging them back into factory boxes.

What if you put your handloads, which is the same brass, in a factory box? How would they know? I'm not paying retail for ammo when I roll my own.
