PMC Bronze .223

Has anyone shot these? PMC Bronze .223 55grs. FJM-BT

Are they good for plinking? Only .223 I can get right now locally is this stuff from Turners for about $8 per 20 round box.

A friend of mine benched his 223 and said it was ok to about 150 yards after that it kind of took "off"

I bought a case and I wish I had just bought a couple boxes and tried it first. Can't get it to group up better that 3 to 4 inches at 100 yards. old PMC would to almost half that.

Do you happen to know which southern california wal-marts carry or actually have the $57.88 200 round federal value packs available?

i shot these. for 100yards it's fine. i wouldn't reload the brass though.

i've been to about 20 walmarts all over the state and i've never seen any 200 value packs.
you can also get that pmc cheaper at the next gun show.

Most Walmarts that i've been to with ammo will have the Remington UMC for $6.44/ 20. If you're lucky.. you will be able to catch it for $4.44/ 20.

The old PMC brass was great for reloading for semi autos. Pretty thick and robust brass. I still have some around that keeps getting loaded. Its fairly consistent, too. I have no idea how the new stuff from PMC is.

pmc brass leaves a ring of brass in the pocket primer. in order to correctly insert the primer, you need to spend alot of extra time to uniform the pocket primer. it's extra work, that's all. this is too much drama for me, i rather not deal with this issue.

You need to do that with any brass where the primer has been crimped in place. LC and WCC brass needs this as well and its good brass. Using a bur in a dremel or a chamfer tool in a drill, its easy. I do 100 in about 5 minutes.

i stay away from lc brass too. actually any brass that has that red thing in the primer pocket tells me to leave it alone.

i like to deprime, trim, clean pocket primer, champher, and debur the neck only. i usually load hundreds of .223 at a time, and don't like to deal with extra work. wow a 100 in five minutes is fast. my rcbs case trim kit would take me a lot longer than that, in addition to the cuts in my hand.

The nice thing is you only have to do it once. LC is good brass and if you can pick it up for free, even better. If you have some you don't want, hook me up! You'll be at the APS match, right?
