    Lube Shortcut

It occurred to me, why lube the brass when one can lube the die?! Just lube 1 brass with some motor-oil (light excess) or whatever is available, run it through the die to deprime/resize, and just run the other brasses through dry. From time to time, re-lube the die when the rubbing returns. Also remember to swab the mouth. afterwards, tumble off the lube.

I have a Lees single stage setup, and i hate using the stupid that lube it comes with. it's messy and smells like old people's medicine. before, I was reloading a few .270's at a time, and it was just annoying. Now i'm doing batches of 5.56 and 223, and i just can't stand it. rolling brass after brass on to the lubed surface of a piece of paper. grrr.

hmmm i wonder if gear oil would work best... it's thicker. <that's what she said!>

I just use mink oil for shoes. Just swipe your fingers across the tin every 5 cases or so and roll each case between your fingers before sizing it then tumble

Well, what's your secret (shortcut) about trimming the cases?

i have used atf when i first started, you have to be careful with any lube if too thick hydraulic pressure will dent the case

does any one know why case lube always has the disclaimer not to lube the shoulder?

yeah. i've seen his videos. they're detailed and kinda funny... "lubing is my thing." anyways, it's not a short-cut if i have to buy specialized lube. the wax does look easier than the case lube though, and it is probably more effective in progressive presses.

You're doing it wrong. You can try this method. Put a good amount of lee lube in a zip lock bag and spread it out really well. Then throw in brass, swish around, done deal. Or get the rcbs lube pad kit.
