    what would cause this

While I was at the range the other day the guy shooting next to me had his shell cassings flying 20 feet in front of him. He was shoot .308 rounds which is what I was shooting(M1A). I noticed the cassings from his rifle had lines and indentions on them. What would cause this and should I just toss these shells out

The front shell looks rather...long. With that big of a dent I'd toss it.

He was probably shooting a HK 91 or variation. The case is reloadable for a bolt gun. The first reload will get the shell back in shape.

Yes that's what it look like I just googled HK91. So these would not be any good to reload for my M1A

Agreed HK's have fluted chambers and that is what the marks on the cases come from. That fluting helps extraction of cases. In a military situation, you want reliable extraction, you don't care about reloading cases when you're in a fire fight

Yep, those cases have been raped by a HK91.......Feed & Extract, to the Extreme!

Yeah I thought to myself when this guy was shooting that he must have really hot loads.
I love reloading so a HK91 will never be part of my arsonal
