    Silly question about plated SWC

I am running Xtreme plated 200g SWC and they don't punch perfect holes like lead. Is that common for plated SWC? I still like the bullet, just miss the clean holes!

I don't think its the plating on the boolits. Its more to do with the shoulders not being as square to cut the hole.

I'll have to agree with BJ on this. Post a pic. I've had similar results like yours but in a .38spl flavor. Compared to cast versus plated, the difference is there.

If you are placing too much crimp on the brass, SWC's will keyhole. (Tumble).

Rounded shoulders or not, SWC's should be making nice round holes.

I am using a Hornady Taper Crimp in station 5 and have very little crimp of .471

IME, rounded shoulder SWC cut less clean holes than SWC'rs with sharp shoulders do. Best hole cutter is a full wadcutter, but they feed like shjt in semi-auto's

If they were keyholeing it would be pretty obvious.
