Case trimming - faster way?

Hey Guys,

Was wondering if there is faster way to trim cases. Right now I am using the Lee ZIp Trim, and takes forever to go through large batches. Is there a faster method?

Damn thats pretty sweet. I dont see anywhere that Possum makes them for 9mm, 40SW and 45ACP though

I will probably get it for my 308 and 223 though.

Are there any other good drill power trimmers like this for the handgun ammo? I am not seeing much on Midway.

Most people, including myself do not trim pistol cartridges as they are straight walled cartridges unlike rifle cartridges.

Ah gotcha, I have been getting mixed info on this, and I have been trying to be super careful since I am still only couple of hundred rounds deep into rifle loads, and I just finished my first .45ACP load.

Yes, definitely get the Giraud if you're doing a lot of rifle brass. Or, you can do it like my lazy self and outsource your rifle brass prep.

I use the Lee trimer in a drill for my .223, I never bought the Zip Trim pice. I reload so I can shoot more with better ammo. (what can I say I'm cheep)

for 30.06, 243, 22-250 and 30-30 I use a Forster Trimmer, but I necksize so I don't have to trim these that often.

I use the Lee trimmer as well. in 1 afternoon I trimmed, polished, chamferred and deburred about 300 cases of .30-06 with one. I really wish I had the quicker universal shell holder, but none of my local gunstores carry it.

Ill have to make a video of the Hornaby trimmer. You only have to touch the case once, it does it all. Very nice unit with a price tag of about 250.00

You will never need to trim straight-wall pistol brass for semi-autos. The only thing uniform length does in pistol is help uniform crimping but that's mostly for roll crimps in rimmed revolver cases. Semi-autos index on the case mouth and use a taper crimp. I have never seen a need to trim for them in any caliber I have loaded for no matter how many firings the brass has been through.

Yes, the possom hollow works great and it is priced right!

I also trim on a Lee and it's definitely the slow part, but when you get into a rhythm, you can bang 'em out pretty fast. The Giraud trimmer or the Dillon is definitely the way to go.
