I've found only one commercially made fire proof smokeless powder metal storage box, available at Cabelas. It seems to be a bit expensive and large at $299. I'm looking for an option that is BATF and DOJ approved, and much smaller to store up to 5 lbs powder. I really dont need a 50 lbs storage container, which is much too big. Any recommendations and where to purchase a fire proof powder storage box, is greatly appreciated.

If you're worried about some douche-bag stealing your ammo, just fill a 20mm ammo can with it. It'll take two of 'em to move it very far. I filled one with 9mm ammo and it was like moving an anchor around. Plus the 20mm cans have loop type handles you can run a cable or chain through to prevent them from walking off.

Before I got my safe I had a Stack-on gun cabinet. Since I got my safe, the cabinet sat full of assorted crap for a couple years....until recently. I added some wooden shelves in it. I keep my ammo in ammo cans on the shelves in the cabinet. As far as powder, it just sets on shelves in my garage.

Primers stored in Cabela free ammo box - sealed with a some dessicant paks. I should store it in a static-free container but moisture and humidity is the enemy.

Powder, about two pounds, stored with the ammo in a wooden cabinet (ammo + powder) and on industrial shelving (ammo) in the garage. Most of the powder is stored in the house where the temp is regulated. I've got a lot of powder and I'm buying more. What's the limit? Or is that county/city regulated?

Ammo boxes....I'd need too many and a thief/scumbag could walk them out of the house. I got one one those metal worksite boxes from Home Depot with the protected dual padlocks and chained/bolted it in multiple places to the wall in a closet. Throw in a bunch of dessicant bags to keep it dry. It is not airtight/sealed, thats a big no no for storing ammo. This way it will just fizzle off if it ever burned up. Guys who store powder though need to take more precautions, I'm sure others will chime in about that.

Ammo in tupperware. Power on wooden shelves in the house. Primers also on shelves six feet from the powder.

I like that box! A bit too orange, but nice. My cousin is trying to get me a retired crash cart from the hospital he works at. Locking drawers and storage cabinets, all on wheels. My garage is too cluttered for a thief to get their mitts on and to roll it out. Besides, the garage is alarmed and has a motion detector in the corner.

Storing ammo in a sealed metal container=BOOM
Ever heard of a spam can? You might get hurt if you were next to one when it became a "bomb", but you would already be dead from the fire that ignited it. The most important thing about ammo is to keep a record of it (if you have a bunch) so you can get paid back from your homeowners.

Primers and powder are a different deal. I don't have any, but I suppose I would keep them in the garage and an old fridge sounds good.

Zeke's ammo cans are great! I think I bought about 20 of those little (and big) buggers. Actually, I wouldn't mind putting my powder in one of those huge ammo cans. I've got a couple of 8lbs jugs of powder. Would they fit? Maybe I should attach some casters to the bottom.

BTW, thanks again for driving all the way up to San Jose last time.
