There is still savings on jacketed bullets if you buy by the case from Montana Gold. 9mm, 3750 bullets.

Isn't there an upper limit of ~20lbs on how much powder one can store? Seems like a good deal though.

Limit of powder? What limit?? This is one of those: Do not ask. Do not tell things. I buy my powder 8lb (or 5 etc depending on powder) jugs at a time. IF I order online I order a case(4-6 units 8lbs each) and in one slot I order primers. I go in with a friend sometimes to split the order and we order 20,000 primers or so. This saves money. I buy bullets in bulk when I can. Bulk being 500 to several thousand. Better hunting bullets I try to order as much as I can per order. Most brass is shot buy me or picked up as used free brass at the range etc. When I buy brass(for hunting rounds etc) I order at least 500 or better 1000 rounds. I always order pistol and straight wall rifle brass from Starline direct and 1000 rounds at a time.

Now you can see how I save money but spend more. Then there is the cost of all the equipment and must have new stuff. Cheaper you ask??? Not really. But much more fun and more shooting.

Per round: Yes there is a savings. Problem is (as others have mentioned) you shoot more!!

I buy my stuff in bulk. Last primer purchase was 25k. Last bullet purchase was 15k. Powder was 8lbs at a time (with fellow USPSA shooters). Brass-Free (except 38 Super Comp).

Accuracy; Better with reloads.

If your going to place a value on your time and add it to the cost of reloading then you've just tossed the whole reason out the window. It should go hand in hand with the love of the sport and the thrill of accomplishment and the satisfaction of you doing it yourself! if not just go buy store bought ammo and be happy.

They are 30 cal I got them for hunting pigs here in Condor land at Tejon but have decided to no longer hunt here. I will prolly keep the bullets and use them for Bear and Elk.

basically you save money if you value your time as nothing

I gave up golf because it took all day; expensive Course fee's; expensive equipment (way more than a good Press)....Lessons, constantly making appointments; the Booze Tab at the CLUB was nothing to sneeze about either.

I still Sail....and belong to a Yacht Club (a drinking club with a boating problem)...slip fees and club fees (no bar, no tab) run about $700 a month. It could be more if we went to Sunday Brunch more often....maintenance on the boat takes hard cash as well...hobbies can be expensive...

But reloading for fun and more range time (more ammo) is relaxing. I don't count my time as wasted..in fact the hobby is therapy for me. So is shooting. So is collecting guns...

Save money..?...yes..but OVER THE LONG HAUL. Not right away.

But it's nice to know I can go down to my workshop and pump out 500 rounds of perfect 10MM in about an hour and 10 minutes. That's 10 boxes of hot (not weak) 10MM that would cost me $43 a box plus shipping from a retail outlet. (Double-Tap)

Now if I just find room to mount this press on my boat...hmmm....

Op, I haven't saved a dime. I spend MORE than I used to. Though, I used to shoot once a month. Now, if I don't have school, I shoot once a week. But I do pay less per bullet down range.

WWB $34/100 +tax + 10 mile round trip + 1hour round trip = $275... if they have it in stock.... so figure 2-3 1/hr trips puts the price $385

if you value your time at nothing then yea, you are right, it's only 2.5 times the price or $130/ month more for WWB

My .45 ammo cost lest then half of paying retail. I consider that a savings....

It is all about BBT"Big Boys Toys", I enjoy shooting alot so it is easier to roll my own. I go one step further and cast for all of my hand guns & pistols. But it does get expensive, sure I could get by with a Lee hand press which does get the job done but instead have several Dillons plus many conversion kits, powder measures, dies, etc. Than you run into the problem of getting free brass, bullets or a set of dies for a different caliber, before you know it you have to go out and buy a gun to use all that with! But all in all, it is a great hobby, plus it is something I can pass on to my grandsons & granddaughter.

in my situation, i definitely save when i reload ammo...

the only type of ammo i really reload is for .308 and .30-06, and they're both for bolt action rifles. i feel like i'm making precision match grade ammo everytime i make this ammo on my single stage press.

i figure a box of really good match grade ammo is around $40, but since i reload, i can make even BETTER, CUSTOM made ammo for about $20-25. this is great if you are a benchrest competition shooter, a metallic silhoutte shooter, or a high-power match shooter or a hunter who takes their time shooting!

but if you're reloading for the sake of large amounts of plinking and target shooting like the action shooting sports where precision isn't as important, the savings in reloading is quite minimal.
