First 5 rounds ever done! *Updated with Range Reports!*

    Hey Guys,

Well after learning, reading, reading, more learning...reading..quadruple checking and measure everything I finally finished my first handloads.

    These are:

    175g SMK .308
    40.3-40.4g of Varget powder
    CCI primers
    Winchester brass

Ill be doing 5 round loads of .5g increments on the powder up to .5 under Max recommended for Varget to find accuracy. Then I will tune there.

Even though I have a dillon 650XL progressive press, I am still pulling every round for powder measure as it makes me way nervous (and for consistency)

Range report will follow on Sunday, but I had to put my pic up since Im proud that I got such a daunting task done (well daunting before learning

Congrats! And what a relief and confidence builder after you pull the trigger. (and realize it went down range)

Well got 10 rounds done of the 40.4g

Just finished 10 rounds of 41g as well. Its a bit tedious making sure the powder is spot on, but the Dillon powder bar seems pretty accurate (minus the fact its a ***** to set where you want it haha, but once its there its good to go)

Ya ill feel alot better once I see some holes in teh targets and still have my hands attached

You've already built ammunition that is more consistent than 99% of the factory ammunition made. Once you find the load that your rifle likes you'll be amazed at the improvement in your hit ratio.

That is so awesome! They look so pretty too. You should save the second one you did as a keepsake. You of course have to shoot the first one.

So did you decide to crimp, or not crimp the brass around the booooolit?
