    which reloading book?

I wanna get into reloading and I was looking at these two books at Bass Pro. Just wondering which one you seasoned reloaders would recommend to a beginner like me. If it matters, I have ZERO reloading experience and plan on loading .223, .40, .308, and maybe a few other calibers down the road.

Both of those are good books but I would recommand having a few reloading books. Each book have a different load so some cross referencing is neccessary to come up with a good starting load. My pops have like 30+ books to reference from dating back to the late '70s.

The ABCs of Reloading has almost no loading data except for some rifle and shotgun loads. The book however is great on explaining everything from historical information, cases, bullets, primers, casting bullets, the process of reloading rifle/shotgun/pistols, and other indepth chapters in specific applications of rifle/shotgun loading.

I'd recommend it as a general primer.
For loading information, you can get a lot for free at data.hodgdon.com (for IMR, Hodgdon, and Winchester powders).

Another vote for the Lyman. Great manual.

I use the Lyman and Hornady books the most.

I've got the Sierra book too which is OK.

The Speers book kind of gives me the creeps. Some of the load recipes in there seem rather out of line with most of the other books.

I use both the Lee and Lyman books and like them both.

Richard Lee does tend to go on about how great Lee Precision is, but if you can get past that, his book is good for explaining reloading and how it works.

The Lyman book, though, is where I get most of my load development data from. I use the Lee book as a check against the Lyman, just to make sure.

Any book but Lee's, its horrible. More propaganda than reloading.

First read ABC's, sierras, or Lymans...than after 10,000 rounds get Rifle Accuracy facts by Vaughn. Its not exactly about reloading, but it will help you discern dogma from reality and fact.

And buy your case gauges immediately for any rifle caliber you intend to reload.

I concur about Richard Lee's reloading manual pure self marketing for his products which are not that great to begin with. Cowboy I'm sanding by for the beating

I like Hodgdons annual with Hornady, Sierra and Nosler as backup depending on caliber.

Lee's then Hornady...thats how I roll! Then again I tend to use more Hornady bullets than others(though I do use other bullets)!

FWIW I do use Lee products, never a problem(for me so far)!
