Can anyone out there cast silver bullets for me?

It is more of a novelty than anything. I would like to have a member that is interested cast 30 or so 230g (weight in lead) .452 round nose bullets in .45acp. I will supply the silver and worry about load data. I just need them cast, sized and lubed. Thanks for the interest!!! Sammy

It looks like the melt point of silver is 1763 which might be a bit too high for standard lead furnaces.

The hardness of the silver may create problems when being fired. If it's not soft enough it may create abnormally high pressure causing a kaboom.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, just something to consider.

It may be easier to take a hollowpoint round and fill the hollow with silver.
That way you will still have the original bullet making contact with the barrel and it should still take out any decent sized vampire.

silver does no good on a vampire. it's only for a werewolf but i'm sure it will work on a zombie too

What about machining a bullet out of silver?

From what I remember, silver in a mold will shrink when cooled. I remember reading a long time ago someone doing just that, and the bullets came out undersized. Good Luck!!

That would take care of the shrinking problem.

All cast bullets shrink when cooling. All cast bullets (except some Lee stuff) is cast oversized and then swaged to size. Silvver could have a higher shrink rate than lead but, one would just need a bigger mold to cast silver. For .451 or .452 bullets for a .45acp one could try a .454 mold intended for older .45 LC bullets.

What about just plating the bullets in silver and seating them with a press afterward. You could do that much easier I'd imagine.

First one is a jeweler, might be a little pricey...

Second is a person who had the same idea as you...
