I want to do the same thing. I want to color code my .223 rounds that I reload. When plinking with friend i would love to be able to quickly identify the standard rounds from the tracers, frangible etc. My concern is that with paint will it build up or gum up my barrel?

um. . . . . . huh?Comment

I don't follow. If you're painting the tip of the projectile, it'll never touch the barrel, just the outside edges of the projectile. Right?Be safe, have fun.

I think this would be useful, especially if you're doing your own research on load data. IE- Green= 14.5grains of X Blue=14.7 grains of X ECT
Nail polish maybe?Comment

LOL old thread bumped by a troll with one post.
Back on track you could always dip the tips in green testors model paint. Be cheap and fast.

I got an idea from someone else to get a bottle of red nail polish to coat the tips of the .45 tracers (glow ammo) we loaded. Just put the tip of the bullet up to the bottle, upend it real quick turn it back over and you have a nice painted red circle on the tip.
It was too slow so I only did like 50 rounds.
I put the rest in marked boxes for safe keeping. Then one weekend my buddy (trying to be helpful) dumped them into an ammo can with some other loose rounds.

Some of you are assuming the 'troll' is from or in Cal. I shoot tracers all the time, in my state, legally. I'm allowed to say that here, right?
Try not to assume so much.Reloaders: Stay safe, even the things you don't see may bite you. Read more here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=495909Comment
