$19/1k Wolf small pistol primers. I've used thousands of these and had no problems.

http://tjconevera.com/ has good prices that include shipping. I"ve ordered twice from them, and have received my orders within 3 days. At the last Cow Palace gunshow, I purchases a case of Berry's 124 gr RN 9mm from Miwall for $59. They had CCI and Winchester primers for $22-$25/1000. That's less than some internet sites. Can't remember their price on Wolf primers. I'd say there selection of powders was better than decent and is a good option unless you're ordering a large quantity.

It looks like supplies are more readily available and prices have come down a little. Let's just hope people won't start hording as February draws closer.

You can get hard cast lead 9mm bullets from missouribullet.com.
I bought thousands of these until I decided to cast my own.

They are very reasonable on the shipping; they will put four 500 round boxes into one flat rate shipping box for $13.

Each box of 9mm is $27.50 or $55 per 1000.

          At that price, reloading 9mm is about $0.06 + $0.02 + $0.02 = 10 cents per round.

If you cast your own, you should be able to keep the bullet cost under $0.02 and that just about cuts your reloading cost in half. I'd say it's worth it.

my figuring, ill prolly drop the 9mm and go for 45 since the only reason i got a 9 over 45, was cost of ammo... now i can reload the 45!

like others have said u wont save much on reloading 9mm but u can tinker with custom loads and likethey say, ur handloads will be more accurate than factory is done correctly . if u got time just reload it!

Buying cast lead bullets at $70 per thousand will probably make a box of 50 cost about $5.50 or so.....still a lot cheaper than factory. I just loaded up the last 2000 cast bullets for 9mm I had.

I paid $30 per thousand for them SHIPPED!! Didn't seem that long ago, but it has probably been 5 years. I thought even that was expensive, but at the time it was about $10 cheaper than anyone else so I ordered 5K. Now I wish I had ordered a LOT more.

$50 per 1K using my cast bullets. I used to get lead for free, but now that CA has deemed lead as "hazard material" I am sure in the coming years I am going to have to purchase lead. But for now, $50 covers my 9mm loads per 1 thousand.

I like to shoot 147's out of my 9mm, so I save a little bit of money over a factory load. Also, as others have said, I have tailored my load so that it shoots really soft out of my pistol. It's also fun. You won't save much if you factor in the time, but if you enjoy it, then the time isnt the issue. Also, trying new powders and bullets is just really fun.

I think eBay prices for lead is about $1/lb. Most of the lead is in ingots, ie; the seller cleaned it of most impurities (dirt, steel bits, etc).

So one pound of lead should make (7000 gn/lb)
                      60 x 115 gn bullets or
                      56 x 124 gn bullets or
                      47 x 147 gn bullets.

So price per 1k of bullets (minus electricity/fuel and your time)
                      $16/1k of 115 gn
                      $18/1k of 124 gn
                      $21/1k of 147 gn

Still not bad. I mean, not free, but I think that lead wheel weights are going to disappear from CA.

That's a humungous savings over $70/1k for plated 115 gn!

Of course, time and equipment are not factored in here and time especially is a huge factor. I mean honestly, with an honest days work, you could earn enough money to get just buy loaded ammo and then sit in front of your TV, or play with your kids instead of casting bullets...then again, we do this for fun right?
