I'm getting ready to pick up a lock n Load AP. Does anyone in the inland empire carry them? Or should I just order via the net? I'd like to see one in person first.

OK, you have to have dies anyway and the toolhead is optional, but you need the shellplate holder and the other powder die.

How much is LnL to switch calibers?
Shell plates are about $30 you need one. And Die holders are about $4 each depending on how many you buy. One for each station you're using

This is the cheapest place to buy. http://www.manventureoutpost.com/pro...Loader-AP.html

        $369.50
They sell out quickly and get new shipments regularly

Dies are roughly $45, a shell plate is roughly $20. The shell plates cover a group of shells, so you won't need a new one every time depending on what you reload. The LnL bushings are about $3 ea, you can also buy them in packs of 3 or 10 to save a little. The bushings aren't required as you can reuse the ones that come with the press, but that would negate the benefit of only having to set your dies up once for a given set of components.

The press comes with everything needed for large and small primers, and includes pistol and rifle inserts and powder drop tubes for the powder measure.

So it sounds like the LnL is a bit cheaper to change calibers. That's something to consider if you have a lot of calibers.

I have one (well, I have had one since they first came out with their 5-station AP in the late '70x?, but my son now has my L-N-L.
If you are buying, consider that you get 500 free bullets with it.
Great press. All you need for caliber conversion are the shellplate and some bushings. Watch for a sale at MidwayUSA or somewhere and buy a bunch of bushing.
They have a special shellplate for .45ACP--I never needed it.
Never needed a case feeder. With Dillons, you really need a case feeder.
For any AP/progressive: Make sure it is mounted solid and the bench is solid. Put a "star" lock-ring under the bolt that holds the shellplate or use some LocTite Blue to fill in the threads (the bolt likes to work loose and you start to get high primers). Never force anything. Clean-up spilled powder immediately (it and dirt really enjoy screwing up any progressive press's primer system.

Lee and Dillon don't make ammo, they make reloading equipment and they specialize in it. Hornady makes ammo, and also reloading equipment.

I think each company makes fine products, the Lee progressives seem a bit fiddly (from what I've read) but eally they are all good, don't worry about what other people use.
I am not trying to be judgemental. I owned the Lee 1000. Its basically a good machine when you tweak it. But you have own one in order to comment on it rather that just hearing about it, than comment. The Hornady in my opinion is more versatile than the Lee. I have never owned the Dillon. One day I will so I can say what a great machine it is. You should have read some of the negative comments I got when I bought my new Colt 1911. "Oh you should have bought a Kimber". Well I almost did if it wasnt for the Stupid CA drop test for the model I wanted. Close friends and associates have told me, "Wow, you got a Colt !!" One more day and its mine to hold and shoot.

Thanks picked up one from them on Saturday. Cost a bit more but they were super helpful, even offering tech support if needed.
