I have one, big improvement over the lee loadmaster. Havent used a dillon before, so i cant compare it to one. Definately worth every penny in my opinion.

I bought the Hornady L n L AP to upgrade from the Lee 1000. Heres my take. And no Dillon flamers permitted. Lee and Dillon do not make bullets or Ammunition. But Hornady does. If a company (Hornady) has the know how to make ammo, I would think they know what it takes to make a Progressive Reloader and the specs it takes use one. But I have to tell ya, I was considering the Dillon. But read my previous sentence. And Hornady has a life time guarantee. I had to replace a a part or two due to my error, and replaced at no charge. I have never dealt with a company before that has top drawer customer service as they do. And they are Top Drawer.

I personally wouldn't put much stock into the "Hornady makes ammo, so they must know how to make reloading presses. This is like saying Toyota makes good gas, or that Chevron can make a better car than Ford, etc.

Lee and Dillon don't make ammo, they make reloading equipment and they specialize in it. Hornady makes ammo, and also reloading equipment.

I think each company makes fine products, the Lee progressives seem a bit fiddly (from what I've read) but eally they are all good, don't worry about what other people use.

I have had a Hornady Pro 7 for 20 years and recently upgraded to a L n L. Quicker change over between calibers at a lower cost. I so far love the press. The powder measure is far superior to the Dillon. As for drinking Koolaide I guess I prefer red drinks.

I own the LNL and love it!! I have also loaded on the Dillon 550, 650,1050 and, SDB, which I still own. The 1050 is really a commercial machine and really not applicable to private owners, although many use them. Based on my experience with Dillon and LNL, I much prefer the operation of the LNL. Customer service from both companies is outstanding. If you are interested in the LNL, PM and I'll send you more info.

You won't go wrong with either, both are excellent.

While doing my research, I found the article linked above and that plus the 1000 (at the time) free bullets made it a pretty easy choice. I made a ton of pistol ammo with just the press, but once I get home from this deployment I'll have the case feeder and Dillon trimmer to start making rifle ammo. No regrets so far!

Hey don't forget to check up on the cost of "caliber changes". For the Dillon, you might need to buy a new "shellplate" or "conversion kit". When I added 9mm to my 550B (which only did .45 up until then) It added like $45 for the conversion kit and (optionally) $20-25 for a new toolhead, then add in dies.

OK, you have to have dies anyway and the toolhead is optional, but you need the shellplate holder and the other powder die.

How much is LnL to switch calibers?
