I have been trying to find the website for Bear Creek Bullets and even if I Google it with "Bear Crrek Ammo". What is the link to them? I hear alot of good things about them.

Well I have given up on the local search in CA. for good quality lead bullets. I recieved an order from Knoxville Tennessee. These have got to be the best quality lead plinking bullets I have laid my eyes on. I cant wait to start loading them up. They come from Chris Metheny of X-Calibers. He uses a select foundry he has used for years. Non of that wheel weight stuff from your local tire shop. He returns messages, emails of any concerns. Great customer service. Met with Dave (GetBulletsandBrass) yesterday for bullets. All went well. He sells PRI moly coated bullets who are located in Salinas, so it's a little closer for you. Bullets look good. I loaded some up and will check them out today.

Salinas ehhhhhay ? !!! I will check them out as well. Does he charge tax? If so I would have to pay $1.32 more + gas. With xcalibers I was charged flat rate and came in two days.

I thought you were looking for a local source that you can actually pick up your bullets? If I am going to mail order, I'll stick with Bear Creek. The bullets are cheaper, group well and free shipping. They're also moly coated, so they smoke less.

Folks, have any of you considered casting your own? I know lead WW are hard to get in CA nowadays, but even with WW lead costing $1.00/lb, it's still a pretty darn good money savings. For .45 ACP and .38 Spl, WW alloy is absolutely perfect. For 9mm, water-quenching will make it perfect. Seriously, getting set up for casting isn't that expensive, especially if you're looking at a few thousand bullets.

Look on eBay for lead, you can get it at slightly less than $1/lb SHIPPED. Some of it is linotype lead, some is random lead. A lot of it is "cleaned". Apparently it's good business for some people to scrounge lead, then melt/clean it and pour it into ingots for sale.

I didnt know that brass and bullets in Salinas exsisted until I made my order and delivery by x-calibers in Tennessee. I was hoping you were to notice my sarcasm that I was to save a mere $1.32 savings based upon $12.00 flat rate and CA sales tax. Now that I know that brass and bullets are a local CA supplier is here I will more than likely use them. But it also depends on quality too. If you were to notice x-calibers quality, you might consider them yourself. But thanks Buddy for your recommendation. Where do you live. Lets meet at Los Altos and do some plinking.
