    Bulk Lead Bullets

I recently made an order to X-Caliber in Tennesse for a few thousands rounds each of 45 ACP, 38 spl and 9mm. which cost me $12.00 flat rate USPS. Not a bad price. But my point is, is there a place in Central CA (Monterey, Santa Cruz area) where I can buy reloading supplies. Every Gun store I go to within a 50 mile radius doesnt supply except for a few primers and powder.

It's more cost effective to purchase online, Especially in bulk. Unless you are going to hit up a gun show, You will not find reloading supplies in Santa Cruz county.

I found that out with Santa Cruz County. But I also find that in Santa Clara County. That is if you know of someplace in Santa Clara County. I did go to the Gun Show at the Cow Palace. Unfortunatly I went Sunday and by then they were low on supplies or ran out of others by then. Should have gone early Saturday.

When I asked my local gun store owner about bulk projectiles, he told me that everyone's access to the internet makes it economically unfeasible for him to carry such items. I can see his point, so I bought some powder and primers from him just to help make sure he stays open and remains the great resource that he is.

Good point Chop. Thereby if purchased of powders and primers, he may even be able to order "bulk projectiles". The Gun Store in Campbell has told me whatever I wanted they could order. Where most of the others just dont want to hassle with it. I live in Santa Cruz County but work in Santa Clara County. On a daily basis I can commute a 100 miles a day easily. So an extra 20 miles would not bother me a bit.
But I still chose X-Calibers in Tennessee because of the vast choices to pick.

Well, good news then. I went to the "Gun Vault" in Mountain View and they had primers there ($30+) I asked if they had powder and they said "We should be getting some in soon". They bought more store space (the place next to them) and said they are going to stock reloading supplies. You might want to call them or check them up to ask.

Also Kerley's in Saratoga (??Not sure) carries relaoding supplies or else can order them.

I use Montana Gold for jacketed bullets, Mastercast (PA) for hardcast and Graff & Sons for primers and powder. The shipping cost (in flat rate boxes and not including hazmat charges) is more than offset by the sales tax savings.

I also use Montana Gold, but Bear Creek for lead. Since I near his shop monthly, I just call first, then pick them up. If I need them "right now", Irvington Arms is pretty reasonable for a brick and mortar store.

BTW, I read somewhere on this forum that Winchester primers were going for $21 at the Cow Palace gun show. Is that right?

Yep, I confirm $21. I bought 1k each of LP and SP. Great deal, I think it was Miwalls (??) that was selling it. They were also selling powder.

However, factor in ... $8 parking+ $9 entry to get in. Yeah, still cheaper than $30+ for 1k primers.

I think they were the only ones selling components. There was another booth selling some RCBS stuff, but I didn't see any other place selling reloading equipment. The last time I went to this show was over 10 years ago and I recall a much larger selection of booths with reloading equipment.

Markley's in Watsonville used to have a fair selection of powder a while back. A little on the pricey side but than you don't have to deal with Hazmat fees. Not bad if your looking to try a new powder out.

I tried Markleys. I live ten minutes from there. They were the ones that told me that they will not sell them. Markleys is not store they used to be when they were in Scotts Valley. I miss it When Al was there, Wayne and Scottie. Scottie is still in the Watsonville store. And still a good guy as always. But everytime I go in there, They dont have what I am looking for. I likes Sportsman Supply, Campbell. Reeds, Santa Clara. I find they are bit arrogant. IMOHO.

An I'll check Montana Gold. And the Gun Vault. Thank You Gentleman. The Cow Palace Gun Show this year....Got what I was looking for. Spent more than 4 bills. Would have spent more if I went early Saturday instead of late Sunday. You see if the stores had the stock on hand the money would been exchanged from my hand to theirs.

Irvington Arms in Fremont usually has lots of bear creek bullets
Bought about 4K of bullets from them so far
Some powder and primers, but don't know their powder and primer prices
                          .45 bullets were around $40 per 500
