Reloading for my AR-15

I'm new to the AR-15, in the process of building one but i'm not new to reloading. I have a 1:7 twist barrel, and have plenty of sierra 52gr. BTHP bullets, can i use these with reasonable accuracy? or do i need to get a heavier bullet? I also have a choice between using H331 and IMR4064, which one do you guys recommend? I guess my question has two parts to it.

I use 55gr fmj's in my 1-7 and I get 2-3 moa off hand quick firing, good enough for me. I dont benchrest shoot with my AR. For powder I use, H322, H335, and 748. Dont know H331. A lot of people use 4064.

Seriously, you can run 52s. Just load them on the low end; keep the velocity moderate. Enough accuracy for short range steel and such.

Are u looking for acuracy or cheaper plinking. I know what to use if u wanna go for accuracy. My math says right about 52 cents a round. I load mine for 41. I can make cheap FMJ for as low as 27 cents a round. This is all if u get the brass for free. There are certain fps that most ar likes then tune it from there. It all depends on what u want to do. I'm sure there are guys on here that can make rounds for super cheap and know where to buy stuff

I have a 16in barrel 1/7 twist. Plan on using Varget. Where is the best place to get bulk bullets? Will be used solely for a cheap training round. Thanks for your help.

I'm loading 55 & 60 grains using H335 & Varget, respectively.... and just started loading 69 grain Sierra Matchking with Varget (haven't tried them yet)

From what I've read, and been told, 1:7 does better with heavier bullets. And from experience, I get smaller groups with 60 grain bullets than I do with 55 grain.

Misnomer, actually it's LONGER bullets...but since heavier=longer in the same caliber, then yes. Does anyone use 77 gr. or above?

1-7 is designed for 72-98 grain bullets, they eat up match bullets at that weight bet u need a 20 inch barrel or better above 79. 68 match bullets should be great in shorter barrels. H335 is gonna be the most stable powder, varget seems to work the best, blc-2 is kinda designed for it, 4064 works great, 748 is for cheap plinking, tac is expensive and same as 748, or about there, is better than 748. If u wanna load for accuracy u need a much nicer powder but for plinking i would stick with varget or 748 and is u want stability through all different temperatures go with h335.
