Once again, not trying to put anyone down, but this is honestly a mechanical aptitude thing. Some people aren't meant to be surgeons, some can't safely work on cars, and some just shouldn't be attempting to load potentially dangerous ammunition. I don't like hearing about people blowing up guns or injuring themselves and others because of poor reloading technique. This is loading ammo we're talking here, not youth soccer or some other feel-good-everyone-wins-a-trophy activity where mistakes aren't a big deal. When it comes to loading your own ammo there can be very real and potentially dangerous consequences for even small errors.

Go preach your superiority somewhere else, especially when you dont know the person or their background. I am man enough to admit a mistake and ask for help, at my expense, which in the end was to great benefit. The instructions on the puller werent quite clear either. Your comments are not welcome.

I set the Lee seating die the way it said to for NO crimp. What exactly does a crimp look like? Because none of mine should have them? Should I be crimping lead bullets?
Also, brian.243 helped me see the light, got my puller working. I was putting the steel rings around the bullet and not the rim of the case
I feel like such a moron. I also think I got my Lee scale figured out and have an electronic on the way from Brian Enos. So it looks like I should be good for now. Thanks everyone for the responses! Ill let you know if I have any more questions.
.45 is a taper crimp. If you look at your loading manuals. A 45 case is .476 at the base and .4732 at the case mouth. The crimp compresses the mouth to the .4732 dimension or a minute amount more
The boolit chambers ( headspaces ) on the case mouth, so the completed round needs to have a clean edge on the brass for proper chambering
Having read why you were having problems with the puller. I think the marks in your photo were caused by trying to use the puller with the boolit backwards, not from a crimping issue
Take a look at a factory 45 round. Their is no visible crimp
I had a squib fall in a pile of completed boolits and had to pull 200+ rounds because I did not see where it fell. This is with 20 years of reloading experience
We all have and will continue making mistakes. The object is to catch them at the loading bench."While it may come as a surprise to the authors of the legislation, most semi-automatic pistols do in fact come with a pistol grip"Malthusianism is the idea that population growth is potentially exponential while the growth of the food supply is arithmetical at best.Comment
