I have never used the press mounted puller so wouldn't know one way or the other. I believe they ruin the bullet? At any rate, the inertial type works for me.

Yes, the Lee is a major PITA to zero. It's the spring on the little weight. Once it's zeroed it shouldn't move, though.

I use the RCBS collet puller for jacketed bullets and an inertia puller on lead/plated bullets.

BTW, make sure that top is screwed down on your inertia puller, if it gets loose, it'll break (thank goodness for the Dillon guarantee).

Wow, I cannot get my stupid impact puller to work. Are LSWC stubborn in general? Here is some pics of what it is doing to the bullet instead of pulling it out.

          Any suggestions?

            Egad

Looks like their is something in your puller that the boolit is smacking against
My .45s come out in less then 3 firm whacks on the concrete

From the photo your boolit is already coming out and a simple whack would complete the process. The damage must be from some other variable

Upon further examination: all of the photos clearly show tool marks indicative of an excessive crimp

Might I add "excessively" overly crimped

Still can't explain the boolit deformation

I set the Lee seating die the way it said to for NO crimp. What exactly does a crimp look like? Because none of mine should have them? Should I be crimping lead bullets?

Also, brian.243 helped me see the light, got my puller working. I was putting the steel rings around the bullet and not the rim of the case I feel like such a moron. I also think I got my Lee scale figured out and have an electronic on the way from Brian Enos. So it looks like I should be good for now. Thanks everyone for the responses! Ill let you know if I have any more questions.

                  Brother,

I hate to say it, but by the looks of things...methinks you have the boolit in backwards.

The collet wraps aroung the BASE of the brass case, and not the boolit itself.

Once the boolit is in the hammer, hit the hammer OPPOSITE from the inserted boolit. This will make the boolit pop away from the case, and land within the kinetic hammer. (The brass will stay on the collet, but the boolit and powder will be deposited in the hammer).

                  In Christ: Raymond

PS: Your picture was pretty funny. Thanks for the laugh.

Not to be mean or anything, but some people just aren't cut out to load their own ammo. If you cannot safely handle the basics, there is absolutely nothing wrong with just purchasing store bought ammunition.

Thanks for the laughs and the new sig.
As for the puller, I use a shell plate holder instead of the collets and I hit it on my vice. As for the scale I got a $15 ebay one that looks exactly like the one hornady reloading company sells for more, I compared it's accuracy with an analog scale for awhile when I first got it and it has been very accurate and convienent.
Here's a link to the Hornady one, it's not really expensive even from them. http://www.hornady.com/store/GS-1500...ctronic-Scale/

Here is a little tip for you.
When you go to use your bullet puller....set the part that holds the shell in place to one side. And use your shell holder instead! It will work just as good and you will not have to fumble around with the small metal parts. I have butter fingers and was always dropping one of those small metal parts.

                          Take care

I know from experience ....understanding the scale can be tough....do it again and again....if you have half a brain it will finally set in...takes some time though!

Electronic scales are the "easy way out", but may not be as accurate! Once you get the hang of the scale you will find it good to go!

None of us have made mistakes we would rather not admit. If it's all a bust, I think we each find that decision on our own. Our job here, I think, is to be supportive.
