Natchez Supply online always has .45ACP in stock for around $22 a box. At times, you can buy it for as low as $17.99 for a box of 50. You have to figure in shipping however, so even at the lower price it will average out to $20/50 rounds.

Reloading is the best thing you can do right now if you shoot lots of ammo. My cost for 1K of 200gr. SWC loads is around $100. I already have lots of brass though.

Persistence pays off. I just bought 400 rounds of WWB .45 ACP and 100 rounds of 38 Special +P JHP for $182.79 out the door at my local WalMart. This particular store always has tons of .40 caliber and 9 mm, but .45, .38 Spec., and .357 is usually gone by 9 am whenever they get it in, I was there at 9:15 this morning.

This particular store always has tons of .40 caliber and 9 mm, but .45, .38 Spec., and .357 is usually gone by 9 am whenever they get it in, I was there at 9:15 this morning.

For that money the OP can start off with a single stage press just to get familiar with process and start loading his own ammo for a fraction of the cost. I used to pay less than $200 for 1K of 45acp 230gr ball ammo. When prices went up I smartened up and starting reloading.

To OP, if you ever decide to get into reloading I would be more than happy to show you at my home and even set you up with components to load at least 500 rounds at the cost that I paid for the primers, powder, and projos. We are talking about prices from 3-5 years ago. I just that you "pay it forward" with the favor in the future with someone else. That is how I learned which also included lots of research and reading on my part.

I was in their too could not find any 45. Then when I did I could not fully in joy shooting. Because I knew I would run out soon. Well now I reload land of plenty.
