That's going to look like a bargain someday, the price isn't ever coming down. Get it while you can.

The big 5 near me has had most hand gun ammo for a few months now and lately they have had more than one choice in each caliber. 22lr is just starting to show up regularly. For the last three weeks thay have been getting a case of bulk which is sold by the end of the day it is stocked. The $800/50 boxes of fiocchi and rem subsonics stay stocked for the most of the week.

On a related note the gun shops in my area are startining to have a regular inventory of powder. Promers are still hard to come by and when they have them there is only one brand to choose from and not all sizes.

Most of the walmarts I frequent have 9mm and 40 available, but 45 is still hit or miss...no...actually its pretty rare.

And it seems the 22lr is being stocked in the 50 and hundred packs....value packs in 22lr is still very rare.

Same situation here in Norcal. Most Walmarts are stocked with ammo again as well as most gun shop. Prices are up as mentioned. I guess all the hoarders are happy with their stashes for a while.

I have not been to the three Walmarts Poway, Aero Drive, and Santee lately. I've been slowly reloading more pistol calibers I shoot versus acquiring commercial loads.

I may have to check out all three stores just for the heck of it.

Common calibers are very easy to find online now. Go to ammunitiontogo.com, ammoman, etc etc.

My wife's relative works at Wal-Mart but he refuses to buy any ammo there. He states the employees assigned to the sporting good section are a bunch of "dingies" and, if AB 962 kicks in, would not trust them to maintain their records of ammo. I went there to buy some ammo a couple of months ago (in the morning to beat the rush) and waited at the counter for 10-15 min and could not get anyone to help me out. I asked the first associate I saw for help but they kept passing the buck to someone else and still could not get anyone to help me! I took off and went to another store instead.

It is sometimes hard to track down an employee who has the keys to the ammo case, but I can deal with that since the prices are quite a bit lower than the other stores that sell ammo. Who cares if they are a bunch of "dingies". Doesn't affect me none.

I suggest that everyone in CA reload every cartridge that isn't a centerfire. .22LR, well, just buy what you can while you still can. But every last Californian who shoots centerfire *anything* should have at least something like a Lee Turret Press, given how affordable they are. Things were bad before AB 962, and in a few short months, it's gonna get a lot worse.

Buy your presses and components now, if you haven't already!

I agree with bluerider, big 5 has plenty of ammo in all the popular calibers. Although just a tad more expensive than a year ago, you can still come out on top if you use a coupon. The coupons are available in the marketplace, just be sure to print the one that does NOT exclude ammo.
