i always check my commercial ammo. it might sound tedeous and time consuming, but it already saved me a couple hundred bucks and a headache. i was at burro canyon last month with my 930 SPX and a few boxes of federal value pak shotshells. well during my 2nd box i opened up and discovered a shell which had been improperly packed. powder was leaking out of the shell- the damn shell looked like it was twisted in a vise or something. shot cup installed properly, damn near sideways. i am 100% certain that if i had shot that round it would have ****ed up my shotgun. i have no idea how that round made it through the factory
i joked with another pair of shotgunners on the range: "Hey guys, want an extra round?? come see what federal left me in a value pack" they could not believe it was so jacked up.
