Would you fire this through your rifle.

Hey all, I bought some factory ammo and I got a round which I am second guessing firing through my CA Compliant AR-15. Here are a few pics. Since the barrel is chrome lined. I don't want to ruin it if this bullet were to get stuck.

Any help would be appreciated BTW the manufacturer of the ammo is Reming***. THX

Don't use it then. Honestly i don't think it'll get stuck, but it'll fly all wrong.

Call them or email them, I know that others have received a full box or two of 20 rounds for letting them know you received a bad round.

Or you could simply load that by hand and use it that way. Might be a little off target but it should have no problems getting out of the barrel.

why not trim it (using handtools)? or is that too dangerous?

Bullet won't get stuck, but if I had that problem I might just cut off that deformed tip and fire it anyways just to get rid of it.

            Shouldn't cause any problems though...

Send it back to Rem with the lot number (off the box).
Could alert them to possible QC issue.

You see something like that and hope they have better QC on their powder throws.

I would not hesitate to plink with it.

Why? Don't you remember when they sent out a bunch of .223 without flash holes? It really didn't make a difference how much powder was in the cases since, there was no way to ignite it.

All manu. are gonna let some bad ones through.... personally I'd disassemble it or "Mexi-Match" it.

Email Remington with the photos and lot number on the box. See what they want to do.

For me, if you're in doubt, I would just leave it out until you are certain and 100% comfortable that you want to fire it. It's just one round out of the batch.

bothers me that nobody here has mentioned that deformed tip will NOT ever touch the rifling and therefore poses NO problem firing through ANY barrel. just fire the thing and save the brass, it won't be your most accurate shot ever, but who cares? less hassle than pulling it down, grinding it off, or any other variation. just do it.

I would just save it and put it on my reloading room shelf as a conversation piece. That's all. Defected ammo happens...
