I am just starting the process of reloading and I have been looking all over the internet for Large Rifle primers. I was wondering if $295(shipping and hazmat included) is a somewhat decent price for 5,000 CCI BR Large Rifle Primers (Comes out to $59 per 1,000).

If you don't mind Wolf, Powder Valley has Wolf LR in stock for $25.50/k. If you buy 5k, that comes out under $170.
Wideners has them as well, but they're a little more expensive.

Well, since you're going to be fussy
, Midway has them in stock for $48.99/k.
With shipping and hazmat you should get away for $282 and change.I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.Comment

There are a LOT of people that are very happy with the Wolf primers performance. It is not in the same league as their ammo
In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

I have used both wolf primers and am currently using BR2's. Both have worked very well. I got mine for about 55 per 1000 at luckygunner.com. They sell them at angeles reloading store for 65 per 1000. considering the times you may want to find the cheapest in stock and bite the extra money.Comment

Are you using BR2's because that's just what you have or do you like them better? Do you think they are worth the extra money compared to Wolf?I have used both wolf primers and am currently using BR2's. Both have worked very well. Oh thanks for the snob comment! Like I said I am new to reloading and my concern about the Wolf primers was only because I didn't know about their reputation. I figured if I was going to spend money on primers I might as well spend a little more and get quality primers. That was my only reasoning. Now that so many people have good opinions about the Wolf primers I will buy them. I will assume you were joking about the whole snob thing but if you weren't I am sure you were at the whole "newb" point so just bear with me if you could.Comment

I can attest to this.
I've used wolf primers for a lot of my pistol loads and they've given me good accuracy. I haven't done a "Pepsi challenge" or anything to compare the results to CCI or Winchester but so far, they do just fine.Comment
