My only recent experience with Wolf is using their primers -- I like 'em. Stopped buying their loaded rounds because of the lacquer coating: steel case+melted goop in the chamber = hard work for extractors. The article above says they've stopped using it, though, so I'll have to give them another try.

Something else the article mentions is that Wolf is the 'Charles Shaw of ammunition' in that they source their product from other suppliers rather than there being a giant Wolf factory somewhere... Could account for the varying experiences some folks are reporting.

I have used wolf 45, 7.62x39, 223 and 9x18. Thousands of rounds thru my various weapons. The only problem I've had was light strikes on the primers. I shoot for fun, not for food or in matches. I don't think you will be sorry for getting it, I never was.

Copes Distributing has 7.62X39 Yugo, non magnetic for $3.25 for a 15 round box with brass case. I just got my shipment of 300 rounds for $72.95 and that included shipping. That is cheaper then the gun shows, Crossroads of the West charged me $5 for a box of 20 Wolf magnetic and steel cased. I intend to do a lot of business with them again real soon.

The only people I find who have a problem with wolf ammo are the ones who want match grade ammo for 1/2 price then B**** when they arn't shooting 1MOA groups. Their .30 carbine is a bit wimpy, but functioned fine in 3 M-1 Carbines I tried it with. Now the Wolf Gold in the brass cases I will put up for quality against any standard Remchester rounds. The cases are also better than any of the American cases I have tried for reloading. To sum it up steel case wolf is my choice for plinking ammo but I wouldn't use it for matches and I will take the brass case Wolf Gold/Privi Partisan ammo over any American offering even if they were the same price.
