Recommended first Manual?

I've been reading a lot of posts here about the pro's suggestions for newbie re-loaders, and i have also been reading and watching videos online all about it. One thing I have learned for sure is that you can never have too many manuals since they all vary slightly as far as loading specs. So I just want to know what you guys think would make the best first manual as an introduction to the subject, something I can read before I even purchase a press, I want to have a better over-all understanding of the process and different techniques and steps, not so much different load specs for now, also something easy to read so i dont feel like im reading a high-school math book. Any suggestions will help, and i guess majority will win in this case. Thanks.

I like the Lyman's 49th edition,It has an interesting description of the origin of each cartridge and it also IIRC a little loading basics section.

I go by what's in the Sierra manual, and I never had a problem.

ABC's of reloading and Hornady's most recent are both good.

Speer
Hornady
Lyman

For specific reloading data layout and info I like the Hornady setup the best.

Why bother spending money on a manual when we have the internet?

What everyone recommended is good, I really like the Sierra manual though.

I havn't started reloading but I got the ABC's of Reloading and it has alot of valuable information in it.

ABCs, Hornady, Speer are what I have. As for Internet, I do use a couple of sites but I compare these with the manuals as a sanity check.

My biggest complaint about the manuals is that plated bullets like Rainier, Berry, or Precision are not covered so you have to adjust the data. Plated bullets are cheaper than jacketed and for the way I shoot work just fine.

I started with the latest version of the Speer manual and was very satisfied. Lots of good info in there.

I'm a fan of Lyman 48. Haven't read 49, but I've heard it's a step backwards in clarity of the basic explanation...

Just started reading the "ABC's of Reloading", 8th edition. So far good, informative reading. Looking to reload 10mm and Garand 30-06 in the future.
