LAX Range Reloads

I have shot about 900 rounds of the LAX .40 S&W reloads through my 2 XD40s... I never had any issues with any that never fired, etc... I'd say there was 2 out of those 900 that the round wasn't properly seated, and the bullet actually was able to move backwards slightly...

but my friends XD40 5" didn't like them as much, and he had a couple that went click, instead of bang... though i'd take that "dud" round, and fire it though my 3 and 4" xd40's without issue...

No issues, but the last ammo I bought was from RMAmmo up in Montana, I'll see how it goes, I haven't cracked open the 1k rounds I bought yet...

I've shoot a boat load of reloads from LAX range. I've been a member at that range for 10+ years and have had some FTF but nothing catstrophic. The quality of the reloads has always been good and I have no qualms about useing them for practice or recomending them to anyone. Go to the website and sign up for the mailing list. I would suggest picking up a Lee Classic Turret Press, a couple of good reloading manuals, and learn how to roll your own. Collect that brass whenever you can. Buy it on Gunbroker if you have to. Stock up on your components (powder, primers, bullets), and later on, you might consider learning how to cast your own "boolits". Major cost savings there, too, besides, especially for .45 caliber.

I reload my own ammo and cast my own boolits. Each box of 50 rounds (.45 Colt) costs me $5.10 to make. Hard to beat that. .45 ACP would likely be a bit less, given how much fired brass there is out there.

I a have now used over 1,200 rounds of LAX 9mm reloads in a M&P and CZ 75B.
0 FTF 0 FTE 1 FTF.

I'll echo CA-Shooters' experience. At least 2000 LAX 9mm reloads through my SR9, no fail to do anything but hit POA.

I've used about 2000 rounds of 9mm and 1000 rounds of .45, and have not had any problems at all with their stuff. These were shot through several different types of guns and none of them complained about it at all.

I shot at least 1,000 9mm LAX rounds. I didn't have any problems. Recoil seemed similar to around 4.2 grains of bullseye and 115 grain plated bullet.

At least, that's what I came up with when trying to duplicate the feel.

I don't have a chrono, so that's strictly a wild a** guess. Gives you an opinion though.

edit: just another opinion from a guy that never shoots factory ammo cuz he's too cheap-reloading is the best. I shoot exactly the load that I enjoy shooting for less money, with better reliability that factory reloads(although in all honesty they weren't bad)

.45 LAX Reloads

Only experience I have are with their .45 rounds. So far only shot 250 rounds through a brand new Sig 1911. Notice that the rounds are very inconsistent. Some feel much hotter compared to the rest.

Also, out of 250, I found one that failed to feed due to the bullet being incorrectly seated in the casing. I should have taken a picture of that! Basically, the bullet was pressed down onto a casing that wasn't well rounded resulting one edge of the bullet splitting off and pressed against the outside of the casing.

I'll keep my eyes out for more of those. But I'm more annoyed by the inconsistent loads. The hot rounds are so much more explosive that i wonder if they are double loads. On an average of 8 rounds, I usually get 2-4 that are much hotter. I don't know if there are weaker rounds by feel but I do get low flyers now and then. I just hope the hotter rounds don't end up doing damage to my 1911.

Once I finish off this box of 500, I won't be buying anymore from them.

How do you know they are hot? I don't own a chronograph to test... or know of any other way I can test.

Wouldn't that be an unnecessary expense for a re-loader? Why do that?

Because they're more fun to shoot!
