Wolf is bad for ar-15, well at least with my experience. The case usually gets stuck in the chamber after the round is fired. This has happen to my friends ar-15 and mine. It's ruined a few range trip for us. As for some place to buy ammo, try:

For the same price i can get 62 grain brown bear hollow point or 55 grain FMJ. is one better than the other? or each have a better purpose than the other? both work in 1:7 and 1:9 twist rate barrels?

PMC/Remington UMC are plenty fine for inexpensive plinking and break in- personally as others have stated I would stay away from bi-nickel and steel casings with ARs due to feeding issues. Do keep in mind brass is much more malleable as a metal and will give to tolerances and cause less damage on other metal it comes into contact with. That's about all it boils down to imho. Oh and whatever you do- don't get into reloading and add fuel to the already crippled component supply

so i should stay away from steel case? all the cheap ammo i see is steel cased. is steel cheaper than brass?

I recommend staying away from steel cased ammo in 223/5.56 rifles.
The design of the 223/5.56 cartridge does not lend itself to the use of steel for the case.
The longer case body taper of the 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 rounds makes them more appropriate for use with steel cases.

You're not shooting steel - The casing itself is steel - Check out the above links to see current pricing - Don't get sticker shock -

The bullets jackets are steel too, they just have a copper flash plating on them to keep them from rusting and to act as a lube in the bore.
Many ranges will not allow steel jacketed ammo to be used due to fire danger.
