3000 rnds? In some ways, I wish I only had 3k! The last time I moved, I had two full size pickup loads of ammo & components. Then again, with prices the way they are, I guess I got lucky.

I just picked up a case of this: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/223.html

XM193 is pretty pricey if you can find it, though the guat wasn't that much cheaper. I prefer Q3131a and have a couple cases stashed away. I've mostly been using Winchester white box value packs from Walmart that I bought all last summer, though the supply is running low. Right now the guat seems to be the best deal.

I want the days if cheap ammo back.

God forbid you want surplus .308 right now.

LOL, I picked up 2 cases of SA .308 surplus before AIM ran out; since I don't shoot my M1A as often, I should be good for a while.

Guat M193 surplus is good and hot, huge fireball coming out when you shoot it. For some unknown reason, when I shoot it out of a Mini-14, all bullets hit the target sideways... works okay in my AR though.

For plinking, I use Wolf. For training, I use Georgia Arms Canned Heat. Canned Heat right now is sold for $220/K + shipping; but if you can find a few guys to do a group buy, total order over $1K will get you free shipping. I have shot 4-5K of the canned heat now. Very reliable, load to M193 spec and havn't had any issues yet.

+1 on Georgia Arms canned heat.

Canned heat is my friend too. I'll take just about anything I can get for around .20/round these days. Anybody want to sell me some of their XM193 they've stocked up on for cheap!?(joking but serious)

I'm glad I still have 6,000 rounds of this stashed from when it used to be 180 bucks shipped from wholesale hunter. Man those were the days. Now I have been shooting up my IMG I bought when it was first introduced by AIM. I also shot up a bunch when Turners used to have it for 2.99 a box on sale. Man I should have really stocked up then.

I too love these rounds, but want to start reloading something very similar to them. I have all the equipment, brass (both new win .223 and once fired xm193 brass), bullets (55gr fmj), primers (cci #41), and powder (H335).
What powder load would get me there to match the velocity and ballistics of xm193?
Hodgon powder range is stated to 23-25.3 gr.
                    The barrel is a 1/9 16"

                    And dang, prices went up.

Nice Necro. Someone will have to post the fps and pressure for XM193. But isnt that the stuff that blows up guns?

Lol indeed. Best explanation for XM193 I've heard was at a carbine course I attended a few weeks ago. XM193 = stuff made for foreign military sales. QC on that stuff...not so great. So you get a higher percentage of non-spec ammo. It also runs a little on the high-pressure side. Can't find the numbers offhand, but I remember that the chamber pressures were running around 62k, and that's near the high end of the 5.56mm chamber spec.

In either case, it might be cheap, but I'd rather run Wolf ammo. Extractors are cheaper to replace.

Uh, no. You were mis-informed. But sure, shoot wolf.
