Why does brass prep have to be so much work!

Big 5 never ever ever sold bulk (loose) packs for $5.
Bulk packs are a relatively new thing, within the last 15-20 years or so.
Before that, 22 only came in boxes and bricks.

Yeah, yeah, the bricks, whatever. 10 boxes of 50 in one box. Jeez.

I read somewhere that I needed to trim my cases AFTER I ran them in my FL sizing die. Is this true?

I just ordered a Possum Hollow kwick case trimmer for .223 if that makes a difference.

The cases grow in length during sizing, not during firing.

Oh okay so if I run them again through my FL die after I trimmed them I wouldn't have to trim again would I? Or would it be better to use my collet die on the first step of the reloading press after I FL sized them and trimmed? I am curious because I use the first step on the press inorder to seat a new primer in too. There are four dies on the turret. FL size die(or I could put the collet die), powder through die, bullet seater and crimp die.

I upgraded to a turret press and am going to start doing case preperation, because before I ignored it and just shined before Thanks.

If you trim before sizing, you are wasting your time because you only need to trim AFTER sizing.

Don't try to re-invent the process.

1. Clean the brass.
2. Size and deprime.
3. Clean again to remove lube.
4. Clear primer pockets and flash holes of media.
5. Trim
6. Seat a primer
7. Charge the case
8. Seat the bullet
9. Crimp the bullet if applicable

What is the quickest way to lube BOTH inner neck and case body? Even lubing each case one by one with your hands take some time..

Put brass in box.
spray with lube.
shake vigorously.

Lube

Buy a RCBS lube pad and a bottle of Dillon lube. Spray the pad and let dry. Then roll brass on pad one time and size and decap. It doesn't get any simpler

Me and a buddy of mine split the Giraud. It came by way of UPS on Christmas eve. We've trimmed two thousand cases since then. It is the BEST... Buy it.

the collet die does not bump the shoulder back which is usually necessary for the ammo to fit into an autoloader.
You need to use conventional full length sizing dies for semi auto's and lever guns.

How much does a Giraud cost for .223? I need to get me one of those..Thats the worst part of reloading..Trimming,deburring,and chamfering...I just got done loading 100rds of .223 68grainers with a rock chucker..I started at 9pm....Gotta get a Giraud...and some spray lube.

I don't lube inside the case neck.
There's usually enough carbon and walnut dust left there to act as a dry lube.
