If wolf saves you powder, Double bonus! I have not been so lucky, load my
9mm same with wolf as win small pistol, wolf primers seat a little easier, i like that in my lee 2000. When primers come back in full stock, I will still pick wolf over Win or others in small pistol, usually cheaper and function 100%

Are you guys who are using Wolf Small Rifle primers for .223, did you go with the "Magnum" type, like they recommend, or just the regular SRs?

I bought 2K of the Magnum SRs for use with my AR because I read somewhere that Wolf recommends those over the regulars (for the AR).

Just trying to confirm if that is what others are doing...

The magnums have a harder cup. Better for use in an AR. However, I've used both in my AR's and have never had a problem with either.

I have been using the Winchester WLP primers, which advertise use for both "standard or magnum loads". I would have to assume that virtually any "Magnum" primer would be more powerful than what I was using.

I just want to be sure I don't overload the weapon, if they're that powerful but taking 2 grains of powder out of the recipe seems excessive to me. Besides, two grains of powder puts me well below the suggested starting grains for the recipe I was using...

Been using Russian Primers for years (~50K of Wolf, PMC, Cyrrilic). Never had a dud yet. The cups do seem a little harder than the US variety but I didn't notice them to be that much hotter. Just do your load development, as you would whenever you change components, and you'll be fine.
