Oh yeah, was nervous even though I was very careful throughout the process but even my first 308 reloads were sub moa. Jeff Oliver from lytle creek taught me well.

I only cringe when I find myself next to someone else shooting their reloads for the first time.

Is that the guy that got lytle creek firing line started?
I remember him working on that for years and years.
He used to come up to 1N09 and collect brass and talk-up his progress on getting it reopened.
I always remembered him because of his chevy luv...

I did fo rthe first .45, then the first 9mm, then the first .223. This weekend it will be the 30/06, but I am sure I wont flinch this time. The first time with necked casses was the worst, though with .223 it is imposable to throw a double with varget, it makes a mess, ask me how I know this... and I will not ever tell

                No fear, both eyes open.

I obsessed a bit when making them. Checked the powder levels in each case 3 times and weighed each cartridge after seating.

Kind of like the time I went tandem parachuting. The instructor asked if I was worried. I said, "I watched you pack the chute and test everything. We've done everything we can. If anything goes wrong what am I going to do about it? Seriously though...I'm taking you with me."

That said I did invest in a good pair of prescription safety glasses before shooting those reloads.

I was very fortunate in having the guys at the place I bought my first press (Marksman, in Tucson, AZ) do a great job at after-sale support -- one gent even offered his home phone number! On top of that, the place has an indoor range, so when I came in with the first batch, he grabbed eyes & ears and said "Let's go see what you built." (Talk about standing behind what you sell...!)

So I was only squinting on the inside...

Nope, never had any doubts about any of my reloads.

Ha, when I built my VZ's I got under the cement bench, reached up and pulled the trigger.

Reloads, yes, even being really carefull, I turned my head and was a little nervous.

Not sure if it's the same guy Randall....but Jeff O was the cowboy dude that ran the range (manager I guess) but no longer works there but was a very popular guy, you would see him at the gunshows passing out flyers and was very helpfull to all just the way you are. He also showed alot of people how to reload up at the range! One of the coolest dudes I have met

Hell yes and I still do when testing a new caliber or working my way up with the 10mm. I have a full face shield I bring when testing the hotter ones. It is funny watching the people next to me step back and watch.
