    Broke press

44 year old RCBS Rock Chucker. Noticed a hairline crack on one of the swing arm ears while cleaning the press. Removed the pin and the ear fell off.
Do I notify RCBS or chalk it off as a well used, got my money's worth experience. I know they have a great CS reputation.
I hope the picture came through.

    Contact RCBS.
They will likely replace the press.

Called this morning. All they wanted was a picture of the proken part. I am sending the receipt also. He said most likely they would send a new one out. Gotta love them.

Yep, RCBS is GTG with their warranty.

Must be a CGNer that could weld that up? Not worth it $$ wise, but would be a fun project for a skilled welder?

I toyed with the idea of finding a shop that can weld cast iron. I only paid 46 dollars for it originally.

Don't bother repairing it. RCBS has world class customer service and will probably send you a brand new press- no questions asked. I stand by the company. They've never done me wrong and will always get my business.

If it really is cast iron, welding it would be very tricky. Probably a more expedient repair would be to braze it. Either way, for 46 bucks it's probably not worth the trouble.

That is good to know about RCBS customer service. I reload all my pistol calibers on a Dillon progressive, and rifle calibers are all on RCBS single stage presses. The Rock Chucker I have had since the early 90's, and it's still going strong. I added a partner press next to it to stream line my operation about 20 years ago, and it's also still going strong.
I have not had any issues with them, but it's good to know if I do, they will be there.

Since my last post, RCBS contacted me and requested I send the body of the press to them. Sent it in Thursday afternoon and USPS said it would get there Saturday by end of day. So far the tracking # shows it still in transit. Just being patient.
                        Will keep you all updated.

Heard from RCBS CS. They said they should be shipping the new press out this week. Can't wait.
