Which manual says that 3.5 grains of Bullseye is max for a 115gr bullet in the 9mm? Cuz every manual I have ever looked at said approximately 5 grains is max and I've been handloading for 17 years. Are you looking at Speer's data for swaged lead bullets?

The Overall length of the bullet is 1.4mm

Yes I have manuals that's how I was successful with the FMJ's :-p
Could you please double check the above????

In my Ken Water's Pet Loads book he lists 4.5 gr B.E. for a Hornady JHP, OAL of 1.110, showing normal pressures. He also lists 4.7 and 4.8 as being more accurate. You might want to start about 4.0 to 4.2 grains...... You are the loader, it's your responsibility.

Pay big-time attention to your OAL when loading 9mm and .40! Pressures go up VERY quickly when bullets are seated deeper. This is due to low case volume.
      all the best,
      Mike

This from alliant powder web site. It lists a load of 4.7 gr. of Bullseye for a Speer Gold Dot 115gr. JHP. Even starting with a reduced load of 10%, that would make it 4.2gr.(if I did my math correctly). I found that my g19 runs fine with 5.0 gr. loading a Winchester 115gr JHP.

Threads like this are why people need to own multiple reloading MANUALS, not those free "load data guides" that the powder manufacturers give out.

what he said.................. I've found some really good books and manuals at garage sales and the like. I once found a set of the P.O.Ackley manuals at a garage sale!

That is correct the numbers I had were for the lead swaged bullets.
now that I have had a chance to go thru a few more of my manuals the max I have seen was 4.8 grains. I will make some more tests today and go to the range with this info and the info from other posters. I hope it wont need the max load.

These are the manuals I have:

All other things in the load being equal, I'm inclined to agree with this post.

& check your extractor for crud while you're at it.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

My Caliber is not the best, I have a new digital one on order. As far as I can tell it is 1.14" I have changed my charge to 4.0Grain after extensive testing today at the range.

I'm very happy with 4.0gr not one problem at all and all of the bullet stayed within a silver dollar shaped hole.

Thanks for all of your help.
