The capsule do allow more shot than a standard case length. However my .38 Special Derringer won't chamber them (hang up at forcing cone).
.44 mag loaded to case length isn't a slouch, but can be improved with a longer case. Why I picked up some .460 brass for the 45 Colt. I think .445SM brass would fit the 44mag, then neck down the front with say a 41 mad size die. Just optimizing.
Many years ago, while deer hunting up near Willits, I shot a yuge rattler with my then .22LR revolver snake loads. While it took most the fight out of him, he still managed to move a dozen feet or so before my dad's buddy arrived and finished him off with a 44 mag snake load. I don't recall if he was using capsules or what. It was pretty impressive. Nice few inches of hamburger behind his head. The .22LR "dust" just made some tiny holes. When I got the Derringer, I started carrying gas checked loads similar to yours (again, capsules wouldn't fit). Always wanted to try some with some 357 Max brass.
