    Phillips Wholesale

My first visit to Phillips Wholesale yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised. I have been reloading since 1982 but now I only handload revolver calibers and the 45 ACP. So everything I needed were in stock at a fair price.

Like most places, sometimes yes, sometimes no. Damn good place to go for most handloading items. Rick has very fair pricing.

He's got more primers now then I've seen in 2+ years. I just bought some Fed LPP today...

His prices are coming down. He dropped the price on Ginex and Servocios & Aventuras primers this week to $85.00 per K...

He also has range pick up brass at a good price. He goes to estate sales and has used equipment at great prices. I recently bought a new looking Giruad trimmer for about half of retail. You never know what he has day to day. I live about five miles away and go there at least twice weekly. Look up his Covina shop on line for in stock items and retail prices. This shop is my best known secret.

              ***THREADJACK!!!***
1 Hour ago at Sportman's Warehouse in Dos Lagos off CaJalco (sp) I found CCI and FEDERAL SP primers for about $53/1000 They have a limit of 1K per person. I bought 1K because I did not want to drive all the way that I did to only get a Plano flat single sided 3700 series organizer. I was talking to them and they are getting primers a lot more and they had a lot of powder in the back too. I decided to not ask my wife to buy 1k since I am still munching on the ones I got a few years ago at Home Depot in Chino Hills...

                stilly,
How many local dudes haven't seen that price & availability at that price in years? Great information! Thanks. Now...

How many of those same dudes just said,''Ehh, I'll wait a few more weeks and see if the price goes down?''

You could have said the price was ten bucks per thousand and these guys would have said the same thing.

"Come on over and we will give you a free 5k flat of CCI primers. And we will even carry them to you car and load them into your car with no extra charge."

                "Ehh, I'll think about it"

For me, it's about dollar/cost averaging. The last time I bought primers, they were $121.99 for a case of 5000. I bought about 5 cases of the various sizes. I've been slowly burning though those waiting for availability and pricing. When I got below 3-4 thousand of any one type, I topped off back to 5000. The last time I bought a single brick before the panic I paid $35/1000.

At $57/1000, I'm a buyer again, but only up to about 5-7 thousand on-hand. The price might go lower, but then again the supply might dry up. My average cost per primer is still great.

The only caveat is that I'm down to my last 3,000 large rifle primers, and I'm starting to get itchy because they are still scarce and still too expensive for me to buy in. I might buy a brick as a hedge just in case, but for now I'm still waiting.

^^^ im optimistic about below 5 cents.

Using 9mm as a reference guide. Low of 13 cents, peaked around 65 cents. Now at 26 cents.

Primer prices will go down slower because reloaders are the lowest priority of the supply chain: that said, I predict we should be at 4 cents, supply just has not feed into all the distribution channels.

I'm hoping for LPP availability to improve before I need to purchase again. I'm flush everywhere else, and with SW selling SPP at $57/1000 I'm more than OK in that dept. I might try putting up a local ad to trade SPP for LRP, but I'm not too optimistic that folks will trade.

Stopped in there for the first time while in town visiting family. I purchased some Hornady bullets at a reasonable price. I wish I had a place like this near me in the Bay Area.

I will make sure to go back.
