Does the Manufacturer have a store-front? If so, check for deals. Also check and see if you have a problem with their product, can you just walk up to their door and say, "Can I get a replacement?"
I think I'd stick with big green if there were other benefits along with them being in my backyard. Being able to swap immediately does have it's benefits. BTW: RCBS has great "no-nonsense" customer service. Always took care of me... no questions asked... or lectures!Comment

RCBS does not have a storefront, but this place shares the same parking lot with them...

Everyone seems to be pushing Dillon. Make sure you check out Hornady's Lock-N-Load AP too."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill

I was looking at this and originally I figured I'd get what I wanted. Dillon 650. Big bad progressive setup that cranks out bullets of any caliber you could want for as long as you can do it. Now after talking to some people a simple single stage might be what I want for now and upgrade later. For a few hundred bucks Lee has some good setups that get the job done.Comment

I assumed you already had a single stage. By all means, you should start with a single stage press, as you may want to load for more than one cartridge. I don't like to go through the changeover on my Dillon 650 unless I'm loading up >500 rounds of something different. Now if I were really psychotic about this, I'd have a 650 for each caliber I load for in quantity (presently, 3)......I was looking at this and originally I figured I'd get what I wanted. Dillon 650. I currently like the Redding gear. One of those iron single stage presses will last a lifetime or two.Comment

Wow, I've bought from Dillon on line and at their Scottsdale store & never encountered any attitude except "most excellent!" That includes some tech support and replacement of defective merchandise. Have also bought from Brian Enos, also "most excellent!"
I've also had the same attitude from Hornady, besides, their automated phone attendant message is worth calling them even if you don't want to talk to anyone."As soon as we burn 'em," Chinn said, "more come in."

I'm still waiting for someone to explain ANY reason (besides price) where a Hornady/Lee/RCBS progressive press is better than the equivalent sized/featured Dillon press.
Reloading presses are tools that you are going to use for the rest of your life.
That's not something you skimp on.
The measly difference in initial purchase price is long forgotten by the time you have loaded 1000 rounds, but the better quality of the superior product lives on forever...Randall Rausch

I know that you are a serious reloader Randall, do you have any thoughts on this comparison? I have never loaded on another press, but have had nice results w/ the l-n-l. with the case feeder, dies, large and small plates set up for 4 calibers, about $800

That comparison is not bad.
It misses some things though.
The Hornady press does not allow you to run separate seat/crimp dies AND a powder check die.
This is a big deal in getting consistent ammo.
Also, many people report problems of the individual LNL bushings coming loose from the press during operation.
The Dillon's single toolhead is the superior design in this respect.
Also, the ergonomics are not nearly as good on the Hornady.
Dillon has been building progressives a long time and that's where they really shine.
Hornady re-works their progressive design every couple years.Randall Rausch
