Who has suggestions for where to buy a progressive reloader

    oh sh**, here they come!!!

Ok...there it is everyone who wants to take a shot at me about why I shouldn't or am not qualified to reload can rest assured, it's already been done.

Bottom line, I'm ready to start reloading, I'm tired of storing empty brass. Should I just go to RCBS here in town or do you have a better suggestion for a complete setup to start reloading. Don't tell me i'm not ready for this or that. I pay attention, follow directions and I am fully aware that I take my life into my own hands with reloads.

    Primarily .223, maybe some .45.

Natchez often has good deals on reloading equipment:

Powder Valley, Graf and Sons for powder and bullets, but good primers have been in short supply.

lurk on the FS forums until your eyes bleed and you can score a nice deal.

And the model you choose is???

Because reloaders often are big an bulky and heavy, be sure to factor in cost of the units + shipping.

Some sites have shipping included Grafs + $4.50 handling fee or tiered shipping like Cabelas or free shipping if over $375 as eGuns.

eGuns has some freebies with Dillons orders over $400.
Most resellers have 1000 bullets with Hornady LNL.

I'm a fan of the Dillon 650 myself. If you want to do a lot of calibers and are cost averse, consider the 550 instead.

Grafs, if you have a C&R discount, goes under Dillon's MSRP. It's the only place I have found so far where you can buy Dillon gear for under MSRP.

If you don't have a C&R license (or a friend to piggyback on), buy from Brian. He's a good guy.

With Graf's and having a C&R discount, you get dealer rate, but you now pay actual shipping, not just that $4.95 charge they have on the retail side.

With that, you have to be careful, you can order bulky or heavy stuff and pay more after shipping as a dealer than the retail customers do. And Graf's site sucks in that they don't show you what your shipping costs would be for your order before you place it. So, you either place it and hope you end up saving money, or you call them up and predetermine shipping before you place the order.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I ordered my Dillon 650 from....... Dillon! I bought it about 10 years ago, don't know if Brian Enos was selling them at that time.

I know other manufacturers have their enthusiastic fans, but I don't think you can go wrong with a Dillon machine, whichever model you choose. They are nuclear grade and Dillon customer service is as good as it gets. If you can't afford one, use a single stage (which you really need as a basic tool anyway) until you can. You know you'll want one......

Regarding their customer service: you don't need to use it because they sell crappy stuff, but it is nice to be able to call them when a part breaks, wears out, or (in my case) during disassembly flys across the room to disappear into an alternate universe and have them send the replacement part out the next day for free, including shipping. They really mean it when they say "no bull....."

I bought my 450B in the early 80s from Dillon direct also.

Tweet, do you have the manual or auto indexing RCBS Pro 2000??

I have tried every single progressive out there except that Pro 2000. I wish I could check that out and see how caliber changes are done, etc.

                      Looks like a cool press.

Although I love my Dillons (550 & 650), being that you are so close to tech support, going green would not be the worst choice for you.

I bought mine before the auto indexing. I purchased an auto index, but I load a lot of 9mm and it seems to stop the cases quickly and a little powder spills out. For my purposes 150-300 rounds an hour manually is fine. I enjoy the reloading as a hobby since it gets me out of the house with the XM radio for a while.

You said this because you know your location shows oroville, and you have already checked out that little reloading place there right? It seems like a good advantage to live in the same town as the manufacturer, but if you want a different brand...

I would probably buy a dillion from Brian Enos if I were starting over. I bought mine from the factory and there wasnt much benefit, other than the free calendar...love their calendars...
