If you're just looking for low volume KISS rule production. You can just buy an appropriate Dia H&I set. Then tap the bullets into the H using the I and a wooden/nylon mallet. Until flush, then use a short brass drift to shove them through the rest of the way.

A block of wood, with a hole slightly larger than the "H" drilled partially through it. Would suffice as a stable holder for the die.

They are available in standard sizes. Including these in similar sizes for 45 cal.

    .451
    .452
    .454
    .457
    .458
    .459

    Just one of many options.

But realistically the LEE Bullet Sizing set up for single stage for $26 _ shipping is hard to beat. And comes in your targeted .459" dia.

Lee Classic Bullet Sizing Kit lubricates and sizes cast bullets, also seats and crimps gas checks. Fits any standard 7/8x14 thread reloading press.

ETA .... As an old fart who has used my Lachmiller LubriSizer since the early 1970s. I never looked into other means and immediately thought of H&I dies. After actually looking into the subject. Disregard my first post, and just get the LEE KIT for cheapest and most efficient KISS RULE solution.

I use the Lee kits for exactly what you want to do. I powder coat my 38/357’s 9mm, 40, and 45 acp and Colt. The Lee push through is cheap and easy

Agreed with others, Lee sizing die are cheap and effective. Also, You can get a brass or metal rod and wrap wet sand paper around it to enlarge a die if it's too small too.

            Totally.

            I do that too.

            HOWEVER...

To harden them up, I heard push through sizing like that tends to soften the lead a bit, but the way to harden them up would be to cook them for about 400 to 450 deg for either 20 minutes or 1 hour I forgot the temp, and then drop them in water. But would that still be okay or would they deform any? I am only wondering about the powdercoating now at this point...

This was a way to super harden your pills to about 50+ BH IIRC. But I have not done it and I forgot some of the process. I just remember that the push through sizing supposedly softens them up.

I like the breech lock bullet sizing kit. Just need the one die and have a separate bushing for any size I need. The bushings are fairly small, I can fit a lot of them in a small container.

my main gripe with lee is if i'm not paying attention the canister fills up then lifts off and spills all my bullets

^^^ yeah, especially with flat nose bullets, they just keep stacking like a Lego tower, lifts the hole thing off and out pours a hundred bullets ahahaha.

I use the Lee push through sizing dies as well. My bullets just drop through into a large plastic coffee can (not the super tall ones).

A guy down under builds a contraption that mounts a lee press upside down. It was pretty cool. I built a manual single stage sizing press for PC bullets, but didn't get far enough to be satisfied in the quality to sell them.

I read that Lee actually started producing a press just for this purpose.

Pumping it by hand sucks, so I built an automated sizer with the lee dies. Others have built similar units. There are options, but Lee or NOE seems to be the best bet for PC sizing, last time I looked.
