Once you start loading buckshot and slugs the savings jump way up. But the best part is making a load tailored to our needs or wants.

      Great advice.

My first car gas was 28 cents a gallon. Bought a 1959 volkswagen for 100 bucks.

My cost is 17.5 cents per round of 1oz 12 gauge, 1200fps load. It will go up after 15K shells or so when I have to restock primers and powder. I still have 100+ bags of reclaimed shot for practice which should last me a while.

            My cost 7/8oz 12g 1200fps:
            Lead $45/25lb @7/8 = 459 loads 3 bags left
            Primers $30/k maybe 3k left.
            Powder $21/14oz Clays 18grains/load 5lb left
            Wads $12/500 available
Range pickup hulls 0 and almost 0 cleaning, just wipe down if it looks dirty.
The math says it's .20/rd not including my time.
Semi progressive so 1 pull 1 round fairly quick.
            1box $5
