But doesn't the new stuff evoke some kind of excitement. Even though I try to resist my attention is piqued. So many great ideas. So many solutions to problems that were out there!

Reloading triggers my OCD in the best way.

For .223, my reloading is part of my 10 step problem/program:

1. Deprime
2. Lube and resize
3. Trim
4. Campher and debur
5. Clean brass
6. Prime
7. Add powder
8. Seat bullet
9. Crimp
10. Plunk test or other quality checks


Said another way, this is my "wax on - wax off" anti-stress program

The problem is not reloading. It's your fixation on reloading. After awhile you will become fixated on something else and reloading will drop off the radar. It could be displacement behavior. Suggest you spend some quiet time every day examining, evaluating and facing your worst fear(s). If/when you discover what that really is, you're on the way to a solution.

No, reloading is following the Good Book, we are being fruitful and multiply our stores.

When you first start out you fill boxes of 20 and 50 rounds.

This becomes 100 round boxes.

Next 30 cal ammo cans and 50 cal ammo cans.

Finally drums.

I don't personally know anyone reloading drums - yet

For me reloading is neither a necessity nor an obsession. It makes shooting convenient because I don't have to drive three hours in order to replenish stock.

In your case, I suspect the underlying problem is obsessive-compulsive disorder. My wife has a mild case. There is no cure.

Since we haven't met I hope you'll understand that I'm poking fun at you without any malice. We all have our obsessions.

I'm am in the process of moving and the weight of all my loaded ammo and loose projectiles plus presses and dies is back breaking.
That was after the guns and safes.
It will be worth it though to live in a freedom loving state.
