I enjoy shooting my Winchester 1894 30-30. I shoot slightly reduced loads, with all lead flat nosed bullets. With lead bullets, I keep the muzzle velocity down to around 1700 fps and do not experience any significant lead deposits in the barrel. I mostly plink with my 30-30. I have other cartridges that are better suited for the game I pursue.

Appreciate the infos. Looking at turret presses or progressive, but used.

I'm reloading for plinking right now, am curious about hard cast and the marlin micro groove barrel I have. I know a lower grain load is key.

I build plinking loads for a Micro-Groove Marlin (actually a Remlin) 336 using cast bullets (Lyman #311041) from linotype, Lyman Orange Magic lube, sized to 0.309", gas-checks installed. 173gr flat point at a little over 1900 fps using IMR 3031. No leading that I've seen.

Clearly not a hunting load (even outside of CA).
