As a 32-20, 44-40 and 45-70 guy I have come to a conclusion over the years. I never load any ammo that can not be used safely in my weakest gun. In the 45 LC realm, you will never be able to make a load that utilized the full length of a rifle barrel. The expansion ratio will not allow it. So, I suggest loading whatever powder you have already. Load to levels that are safe in your pistol. Super hot rifle loads are a trap for anyone who might inherit your stuff.
I do not know if it will come up with 45 LC but I have a 45 ACP rolling block. Wimpy target loads do not seal the chamber well enough to prevent gas leakage. This included CCI Blazer factory loads. Hotter factory loads do seal the chamber. It could be that fast powder is allowing the pressure to drop enough to allow gas leakage before the bullet leaves the barrel. I am not sure but, I was surprised by the issue.
