My Frankford Arsenal quick-n-ez tumbler runs and vibrates like it should, but doesn't swirl around , if you know what I mean". the brass just kinda stays in one place. Doesn't clean or polish real well like that. Any ideas what might be amiss? Thanks...captn-tin

New, used? Maybe the motor is weak or the balance is too centered. I don't think it's adjustable but maybe the springs on the bottom is too stiff. People have been adding a cone in the center to make it more swirly. I know if I'm vibin' .338lm it won't swirl as much, same with overloading. Check out some videos on youtube, maybe you expect a tornado and it's working as designed?Comment

Worked perfectly up till the time I overloaded it. I was cleaning 9mm at the time so being as they are a little smaller than the .338 so I'll scratch that as the problem. Would you describe the use of the cone in the center for me please. What exactly type of cone etc. thanks ...swirlless captn-tinNew, used? Maybe the motor is weak or the balance is too centered. How old is your media?
What are you using?Comment

Too much stuff in the bowl.
Don't fill it more than 1/2 to 2/3 of the way with brass and media.Randall Rausch

This guy failed to show before and after. I don't know if it really helps but it didn't hurt. Unless you count a little bit less volume.
I think somehow the motor and counter balance was somehow tweeked. You know your machine, we are just guessing.Comment

What media are you using?
The motor is just a standard electric motor with an offset weight hung on the spindle, on a spring suspended bowl. Empty the bowl and turn it on, and you should be able to see and/or feel the bowl vibrating radially. Place a little media (a cup or two) in the bowl, and it should move. The vibration should drive the media at along the bowl surface outwards, then up and over the top of the pile, and back down at the bowl center.
If you can see and get to the motor/weight, make sure the weight isn't loose on the motor shaft. Ensure the spring suspension isn't jammed up (the bowl has to have some play to vibrate.) There isn't a whole lot else involved in a tumbler.Comment

Is the center bolt real tight?
Take the bowl off and make sure then tighten it on the top as well. On my thumblers tumbler
If the lid bolt vibrates loose the agitation is horrible.Last edited by LynnJr; 09-20-2021, 12:03 PM.Lynn Dragoman, Jr.
